🇮🇹  Inter  is driven to maintain their pursuit of the Scudetto. Inter won the Serie A Week 26 against Genoa on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. Currently, Inter is only one point behind Napoli.  Inter secured a 1-0 victory, earning three vital points in the race for the Scudetto. With this win, Inter has reached a total of 57 points and sits at the top of the table for now. However, Napoli, with 56 points, could reclaim the lead if they manage to beat Como on Sunday.

It’s incredible to see these two teams so closely matched, both pushing hard without showing any signs of slowing down! The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when Lautaro Martinez found the net from a corner kick. Genoa posed a threat just two minutes earlier with Ekuban, but Josep Martinez made a crucial save. Unfortunately, Correa picked up an injury during the match.

Looking ahead, Inter will face Napoli in an away game, while Genoa will host Empoli at home in their next fixture.

⚫️🔵 Inter gained the upper hand in the 78th minute when Lautaro Martínez found the net with a close-range header directed to the bottom left corner. Hakan Çalhanoglu provided the assist after a corner was given away by Piotr Zielinski. Calhanoglu delivered the corner, and Lautaro Martínez leaped to score, with a deflection off De Masini leaving Leali with no chance.

Stats before the game:

Inter has not lost to Genoa in their last 11 league encounters, boasting 8 wins and 3 draws, while managing to keep eight clean sheets. However, it’s worth noting that three of the last four matches have ended in a stalemate. After a 2-2 tie in their first meeting, there’s a chance both Serie A matches this season could end in draws for the first time since the 2012/13 season.

Inter has been on a remarkable streak, winning their last 10 home matches against Genoa in Serie A with an impressive scoreline of 27-2. In fact, the Grifone have managed to secure just one victory in their last 36 away encounters against the Nerazzurri in the league, with a record of 7 draws and 28 losses. That lone win was a 3-1 triumph back on March 26, 1994, when Franco Scoglio was at the helm.

Inter have lost two of their last three league games (W1), as many defeats as in their previous 54 Serie A games (W39 D13 L2). The Nerazzurri have not recorded at least two consecutive defeats in Serie A since the period between March and April 2023 (three in that case).  Inter could win three home games in a row for the first time in this championship; the last time they managed it dates back to the period between October 2023 and March 2024 (nine consecutive home wins in that case).

Since Patrick Vieira arrived at the helm of Genoa (last November 20), Genoa is the team that has recorded the most clean sheets in Serie A: seven in 13 matches; in the period, the Grifone would be 9th in the standings with 20 points (5W, 5D, 3P).
