🏆👉  The moment has arrived! Inter won the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals Second Leg on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.   Inter is gearing up to play in the Champions League semifinals, facing Barcelona in a two-legged contest that will determine who advances to the final on May 31 in Munich. The aggregate score currently reads Inter 4 – 3 Bayern.

The second half is where the drama unfolds, as Bayern takes the lead with a goal from Kane, who finishes with a precise right-footed shot in the area. Inter responds fiercely, scoring two goals in a quick succession of three minutes, both from corner kicks—first by Lautaro and then by Pavard. Just when it seems like the match is decided, Bayern strikes back with a header from Dier in the 76th minute and makes a desperate attempt for a late equalizer.  However, they are unable to score the goal that would have sent the match into extra time.

After winning the First Leg 1-2, Inter is in great shape, recently triumphed over Cagliari and Bayern Munich, extending their unbeaten run to twelve matches.

Bayern Munich gained the advantage in the 52nd minute when Harry Kane found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom left corner, thanks to an assist from Leon Goretzka. The play began with a cross from the left by Sané, which Pavard headed away to the edge of the area. Kimmich then set up Kane in the right side of the box, allowing the English striker to shift the ball and finish with a shot into the far corner, leaving goalkeeper Yann Sommer unable to react.

Inter leveled the score at 1-1 in the 58th minute when Lautaro Martínez found the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner, capitalizing on a corner given away by Eric Dier. The corner, taken from the left by Dimarco, saw Lautaro initially head the ball against Kimmich before he quickly followed up with a precise right-footed strike that beat Urbig into the left post.

In the 61st minute, Benjamin Pavard found the back of the net with a close-range header aimed at the upper center of the goal. Hakan Çalhanoglu provided the assist with a well-placed cross after a corner awarded due to Eric Dier’s actions. Çalhanoglu delivered a powerful corner kick into the heart of the six-yard box, allowing Pavard to rise above Kim and score with a header just beneath the crossbar.

In the 76th minute, Bayern Munich equalized at 2-2. Eric Dier scored with a header after a corner kick conceded by Carlos Augusto. The Germans opted for a short corner, with Gnabry sending a cross from the right wing to the far post, where Dier successfully headed the ball in from a tight angle, just grazing the opposite post.

Stats before the game

In their last six encounters in the Champions League, Inter and Bayern Munich have been evenly matched, with each team securing three wins. Notably, only one of these victories was claimed by the home team, with Bayern winning 2-0 at the Allianz Arena in November 2022.

Bayern Munich achieved victory in all four of their away matches against Inter in European competitions. This includes all three encounters in the Champions League, without allowing a single goal (2-0 in 2006, 1-0 in 2011, and 2-0 in 2022). This marks the longest series of consecutive home losses for the Italian side against the same opponent across all European tournaments (4).

Inter has advanced in 21 out of their last 23 knockout rounds in the European Cup/Champions League after securing a win in the first leg. One of the two times they were eliminated occurred last season when they lost to Atlético Madrid on penalties in the round of 16, despite winning the first leg 1-0 (the aggregate score was 2-2, but they lost 3-2 on penalties).
