SESTO SAN GIOVANNI – Inter’s Primavera side laid down a marker as they began the league season with a devastating display of strength by inflicting a crushing 7-0 scoreline on Virtus Lanciano.
Playing at their new home ground, the Stadio Breda, Stefano Vecchi’s Under-19s were forced to bide their time before breaking the deadlock through Rocca shortly before the interval.
The floodgates burst open following the restart, however. After Di Marco was denied by the post, Puscas made it two in the 57th minute. Palazzi then fired in a magnificently struck third before Romanian striker Puscas ran riot in the last quarter of an hour, adding another three inside eight minutes (77, 83, 84) then putting the icing on the cake with a delightful chip deep in added time.
7-0 the final score and Stefano Vecchi could hardly have asked for a better start from his young guns. The Nerazzurri’s next game is sure to provide a far sterner test of their mettle though: they face a trip to Atalanta next Saturday.
