Inter v Cagliari: the match in numbers

< ![CDATA[

No home goals conceded for 358 minutes

Inter have not conceded a single goal at home for 358 minutes, taking into account the end of last season and the start of this. The Nerazzurri’s three home games this season ended 6-0 (against Stjarnan in the Europa League), 7-0 (against Sassuolo in Serie A) and 2-0 (against Atalanta in Serie A).

Only one loss in 19 at home

The Nerazzurri have lost only one of their last 19 competitive matches at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The sole defeat came at the hands of Atalanta, who won 1-2 in Serie A last March. Aside from that blip, Inter’s record stands at ten wins and eight draws.

Mazzarri and the super-subs

Substitutes have been making all the difference for Mazzarri’s Inter side. 30% of the ten goals scored so far this season – the joint-highest tally alongside AC Milan – have come from players who started the match on the bench. Guarin, for example, came on to score against Sassuolo, whilst Osvaldo and Hernanes both got their names on the score-sheet against Atalanta. There have also been three goals from substitutes in the Europa League: D’Ambrosio scored in Iceland against Stjarnan and Icardi bagged a brace in the return leg at the San Siro.

Inter v Cagliari at home: unbeaten since 1995, scoring in last 21 matches

The last time Cagliari managed to beat Inter in Milan was back on 21 May 1995, when the Sardinians won 1-2 after a strike from Dely Valdes and an own-goal by Paganin cancelled out Ruben Sosa’s early goal for the Nerazzurri. In the 14 matches between the two sides since that day, Inter have won ten and drawn four. Moreover, the Nerazzurri have scored in each of their last 21 home matches against Cagliari, racking up a total of 47 goals. The last time Inter failed to score was the 0-0 Serie A match on 8 March 1992.

100 Serie A matches for Andreolli

Marco Andreolli will reach the milestone of 100 matches in Serie A if he makes it onto the field this afternoon. After making his debut for Inter in the 0-0 draw against Reggina on 29 May 2005, Andreolli went on to play for Roma and Chievo Verona before returning to the Nerazzurri.

Zeman’s Serie A debut against Inter

There are always good memories for Zdenek Zeman when he plays Inter. The legendary manager made his debut as a manager at the Meazza against Inter on 1 September 1991. It was a 1-1 draw between Inter and his Foggia side, with goals from Baiano for the visitors and Ciocci for the Nerazzurri.

Mazzarri unbeaten against Cagliari since 2008

Mazzarri actually played for Cagliari, debuting in Serie A in a 0-2 loss against Inter on 26 September 1982 and going on to make nine appearances and score one goal for the Sardinians. As a manager, Mazzarri has an impressive record against his old club – of his 25 encounters with Cagliari, the Inter coach has won 12, drawn nine and lost just four. Mazzarri hasn’t lost away in Sardinia since 30 November 2008, when his Sampdoria side lost 0-1 at the Stadio Sant’Elia in Serie A. Since then, Mazzarri has won five and drawn six of his matches in Sardinia.

Zeman victorious only four times in 25

Of Zdenak Zeman’s 25 encounters with the Nerazzurri, only four have ended in success for the current Cagliari boss, with ten draws and eleven defeats in the other 21 matches. The last time Inter failed to score against a team coached by Zeman came on 22 October 1995, when Inter drew 0-0 with Lazio in the league. Since then, the Nerazzurri have scored 28 goals in 14 matches against the Czech-born coach.
