✅   Inter win the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Final on Wednesday 24 May 2023 defeating Fiorentina at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.   Inter conquered the Italian Cup thanks to Lautaro Martínez’s brace in the first half despite the vehement reaction of the Viola in the second half who pushed, created but wasted too much in front of goalkeeper Handanovic.    Inter win their 9th Coppa Italia to equal Roma in 2nd place of the teams with the most victories in the tournament (Juventus first with 14).  For Coach Simone Inzaghi it is the third Italian Cup, the second in a row with Inter – and the second trophy lifted this season after the Super Cup.

This is the first final between Fiorentina and Inter considering all competitions. There are 13 precedents between Fiorentina and Inter in the Italian Cup and the balance is in perfect balance: five wins for each side and three draws to complete the picture, even if the Nerazzurri have always won in the last four matches – the last Viola win dates back to 27 February 1996 (1-0 in the second leg).

Stats before the game: This will be Inter’s 15th Coppa Italia final, only Juventus (21) and Roma (16) have more in the history of the tournament. Fiorentina will play their 11th Coppa Italia final, their last one dating back to the 2013/14 season (1-3 defeat against Napoli). The Viola could lift the trophy for the first time since the 2000/01 edition (1-0 in the first leg and 1-1 in the second leg in the two-legged match against Parma).   In case of Fiorentina’s success instead, the Viola will rise to 7 triumphs in the Italian Cup, hooking Lazio in 4th place. For the second time in their history, Fiorentina will play two finals in a single season (on 7 June they will face West Ham in the Conference League): the first dates back to 1960/61, when they won both the Cup Winners’ Cup against Rangers and the Italy against Lazio. Inter will play in three finals in one season (the Supercoppa Italiana they already won on 18 January, the Coppa Italia on 24 May and the Champions League on 10 June) for the first time since 2010/11, when they played in four and won three (Italian Super Cup, Italian Cup and Club World Cup).
