🇺🇾  Uruguay won the Copa America Third Place Match defeating Canada 🇨🇦 on Saturday 13 July 2024 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The hero for Uruguay is Luis Suárez obtaining the equalizer goal to decide the match on penalty shootouts.  Suárez also converted his penalty, and this might be his las game with the National team.

Canada and Uruguay have played each other twice in the past. Uruguay wining both games. The first meeting came back in 1986 with Uruguay beating Canada 3-1 in the Miami Cup.   Will Canada win? Will Uruguay win?

✅ Notes:  Uruguay midfielder Nicolas de la Cruz is not playing after he collected two consecutive yellow cards in the quarter and semifinal resulting in a one-match suspension. The good news for Uruguay is that they recover defender Nahitan Nandez after serving a one-match suspension due to a red card received in the game against Brazil. However, Guillermo Varela got a red card in the semifinal against Colombia and will miss this game.

* Canada cannot count on Inter midfielder Tajon Buchanan after he went through a surgery for a tibia injury after the group stage matches.

Uruguay took the lead in the 8th minute. Rodrigo Bentancur defeated Canada goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair with a left footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Sebastián Cáceres.

Canada equalized in the 22nd minute. Ismaël Koné defeated Uruguay goalkeeper with a spectacular goal from very close range with a right footed shot to the center. The assist is by Moïse Bombito following a corner conceded by Sebastián Cáceres.

Canada with a historical goal in the 80th minute took back the lead. Jonathan David scored with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner.

Are you kidding me! Wow, what a bang! In the 92nd minute, Luis Suárez equalized scoring with a left footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by José Giménez.
