EMPOLI – Sporting director Piero Ausilio was interviewed by Sky Sport Italia shortly before Empoli v Inter kicked off.

He began by commenting on Guarin’s new position, playing in a deeper role: “I must say it’s a smart move by the coach and a pleasant surprise too. He’s got the ability to play in front of the defence. I think he can be a ‘new’ player, bringing an attacking mindset to the position.”

Ausilio then fielded questions about the club’s transfer dealings: “We’re weighing up our options. There are no favourites as such. We’re trying to see if there are any good opportunities. We’re also looking to trim the squad a bit so that some of the lads can get more playing time.”
