Genoa won the Serie A Week 29 match on Friday, March 14, 2024, at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, Italy. The Grifoni secured a victory against Lecce, making significant progress towards safety. The match concluded with a score of 2-1 in favor of the home team, thanks to two goals from Miretti and a penalty kick converted by Krstovic. With this win, Genoa climbs to 35 points, sitting in 12th place, and Vieira’s squad heads into the break with a comfortable 13-point cushion above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Lecce stays in 16th place, only two points clear of third-from-bottom Empoli.
Genoa had the upper hand in the first half, demonstrating more effectiveness in the opponent’s territory, even if they didn’t create a multitude of chances. Lecce entered the second half with confidence, but Giampaolo’s team could only score via a penalty taken by Krstovic, who has already hit double figures in our league.

✅ Stats before the game
Genoa enters this crucial match for survival after playing two significant games to secure their place in the league. Vieira’s squad managed to draw 1-1 against Cagliari and Empoli, and prior to that, they achieved a 2-0 victory over Venezia, which has helped the rossoblu establish a 10-point cushion above the relegation zone.
On the other hand, Lecce is facing a tough situation. They have suffered three straight losses, the most recent being a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to Milan, despite a strong start in the first half. The last time Giampaolo’s team celebrated a win was on January 31, when they triumphed 3-1 against Parma. Since then, the Salento side has only managed to earn 2 points from 5 matches, but they are still managing to stay out of the relegation zone for the time being.
