Italian Soccer Serie A blog  hosted by Anna Italia congratulates Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin for his 24th birthday.   Perin born on November 10, 1992 in Latina, Italy.   A good day to celebrate for Perin who is training with the Italian National Team at the Technical Center in Coverciano preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein on Saturday 12 November and the friedly against Germany on November 15, 2016.

  • Perin spent his youth career at Pistoiese before then moving to Genoa. Perin  won with Genoa the Primavera championship, making his Serie A debut back in 2011 at the tender age of 18.

After spending a superb season on-loan in Serie B with Padova, he then enjoyed his first full campaign in Serie A whilst playing for Pescara. Despite their relegation, his fantastic performances were enough to convince Genoa of his talent, who subsequently decided to make him their No.1.

As for career with the Italian National team, Perin  has featured for every youth team, starting with the Under-17 side and continuing up to the Under-21s. His first Italy call-up came on 10th August 2012, when Cesare Prandelli selected him for a friendly against England in Bern.

Perin plays for both the Azzurrini and the senior side, and despite having had not yet made his debut, he still travelled to the 2014 World Cup and served as third-choice goalkeeper behind both Gianluigi Buffon and Salvatore Sirigu.

In South America he played his first match for the Azzurri, although it was in a unofficial friendly against Fluminense.

For his full debut, Perin would have to wait until the arrival of Antonio Conte, who granted him his first cap on 18th November 2014, when he played in a friendly against Albania in Genoa.
