FIFA World Cup 2018: The Qualifying Draw

FIFA having the World Cup Qualifying draw in St. Petersburg on Saturday July 25, 2015 for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup to be played in Russia.    Italy are in Group G with Spain, Albania, Israel, Slovenia, Lithuania, and Malta.    The first game is scheduled for September 2016.

Here is the situation:

  • The nine group winners will qualify for the World Cup automatically
  • The best eight runners-up will play the playoffs.
  • The qualifiers will start from 4th September 2016 until 10th October 2017.
  • The play-offs are scheduled for November 2017.

UEFA (Final Group Stage) – The Union of European Football Associations

 

Group A: Netherlands, France, Sweden, Bulgaria, Belarus, Luxembourg

  • The 10 CONMEBOL countries were drawn to determine the order of fixtures in South America’s qualifying section. All countries facing  each other in a round-robin format.

 

CONCACAF (Fourth of five stages) – The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football

Group A: Honduras, Mexico, Curacao/El Salvador, Canada/Belize
Group B: Panama, Costa Rica, Granada/Haiti, Jamaica/Nicaragua
Group C: Trinidad and Tobago, USA, St Vincent and the Grenadines/Aruba, Antigua and Barbuda/Guatemala

OFC (Second of four stages) – The Oceania Football Confederation

Group A: Tahiti, New Caledonia, [Winner of round one from American Samoa, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga], Papua New Guinea,
Group B: New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu

CAF (Second of three stages) –  Confederation of African Football
