Italian Soccer Serie A

✅   Congratulations to Frosinone Club promoted to Serie A for the third time in history.  Frosinone conquered the promotion on Monday 1 May 2023 after their victory 3-1 against Reggina at the Benito Stirpe Stadium.  Frosinone reached 71 points after Week 35 with 3 games to spare.   The excitement starting from Coach Fabio Grosso, players, and fans celebrating.

Fabio Grosso’s team dominate the Serie B championship and take on the dream of promotion. The success against Reggina of the other world champion, Coach Pippo Inzaghi was decisive: a 3-1 with the goals by Gennaro Borrelli, Roberto Insigne (penalty) and Giuseppe Caso who never questioned the three points, despite Hernani’s goal in the second half.

Frosinone had been missing from the top flight since the 2018-2019 season, when they finished penultimate. The satisfaction is enormous and the thoughts of the whole team also go to the brother of the president Maurizio Stirpe, Curzio, who passed away on April 27th and was honored before the match with flowers and a minute’s silence.

Thanks to these three points, Fabio Grosso’s team flies to plus ten over Bari , third in the standings and wins the arithmetic promotion. The Ciociari will now have three games available to defend their four-point lead over Genoa and cap off the season with a championship win.

Frosinone’s journey began long ago, with the arrival of Coach Fabio Grosso in March 2021 in place of another world champion, Alessandro Nesta: salvation in the first year, playoffs faded to the last day last season and growth continues culminating in the promotion this year.

At the moment, up to Week 35, Frosinonecan boast the best attack and the best defense in Serie B with 54 goals scored and just 21 goals conceded. Absolute protagonist Samuele Mulattieri, striker born in 2000, author of 12 goals and top scorer of the team, ahead of Giuseppe Caso and Roberto Insigne both with 8 goals, but also the young goalkeeper Stefano Turati, always present.

For Fabio Grosso, who before Frosinone had led the Primavera of Juventus, and then Bari, Verona, Brescia (in Serie A TIM), and Sion, this is the first promotion to Serie A TIM won in his career.  Fourth, however, for the captain Fabio Lucioni after the two with Lecce and the one obtained with Benevento.
