WE WEREN’T CLINICAL ENOUGH

MILAN – This is what was said after the team’s round 28 Serie A clash at the Mapei Stadium on Sunday afternoon:
SINISA MIHAJLOVIC (press conference) "I would also like to know why we fell-apart mentally today. But it is not easy in the heat of the moment. I am angry with my team and with the match-officials. But I won’t comment on the latter. We dominated the opening 30 minutes, but we didn’t capitalise on our chances. It’s not the first time either. We cannot afford to concede a goal like we did from a dead-ball situation. We then lost our way and we weren’t the Milan side that I wanted to see. Having said that, let’s not forget all the positive things we have achieved up until now. We will now get our heads down and try and get back on track as of the next match with Chievo. I don’t like to talk about specific players. They know if they played well or not. I am angry that we didn’t take our chances and for our lack of reaction. This concerns the team and individual players. I don’t talk about the match-officials. We will see how they intend to use technology in officiating matches in the future."
ANDREA BERTOLACCI"We should have broken the deadlock in the opening 25 minutes and we should have been more clinical. We conceded after a well-worked corner by Sassuolo and it was all up-hill from there. We all saw the incident that led to their second goal and the match ended there. We should have reacted earlier, but we played with the desire to win and we’re left feeling disappointed because this was a must-win match. Sassuolo play good football, but we needed a different result to this. You can always learn from your errors, but we have to take a step back and try and understand what didn’t work today. What’s more, we cannot forget all the good things we have done up until today. We had to win to keep in touch with the sides ahead of us, but we cannot change the past and we have to move on. We slipped up today but there are still 11 matches to play this season in Serie A."
