TORO TEST FOR MILAN’S HOME RECORD

Torino visit the San Siro on Sunday for Milan’s last home match of the season.

MILAN – Milan host Torino on Sunday in what is the last home match of the season in Serie A. As the countdown begins, here are some interesting stats and facts to get you in the mood:

The rossoneri’s biggest win over Torino came on the 26th of February 1950 at the San Siro. On that day, Milan stuck 7 goals past Torino without conceding a single one. Burini (2), Nordahl (4) and Liedholm (1) were all on the score-sheet. Milan have come close to equaling that win as recently as the 6th of October 2002, running out 6-0 winners, once again at the San Siro. Pirlo (1), Inzaghi (3), Serginho, Fattori (o.g.) were on the score-sheet that day for the rossoneri.

Goals could be on the cards seeing as Milan have always been on target at home in the second part of the Serie A season: 15 goals from 8 matches. 15 is the magic number it seems, seeing as it is also the number of points collected by Milan at home in the second part of the season.

Over the years, Milan have clinched two titles after matches with Torino. The first of these was in 1956-1957 playing out a 2-2 draw in Turin to wrap up the title on the fourth from last round of the season. The second came in 1961-1962 when the rossoneri ran out 4-2 winners at home on the second to last round of the season to be crowned Italian Champions.

Milan have a decent record from their last match of the season at home. In fact from the past 5, Milan have won four (3-0 over Juventus in 2010, 4-1 over Cagliari in 2011, 2-1 over Novara in 2012 and 2-1 over Sassuolo last season) and drawn the other (0-0 against Roma in 2013). The last time Milan tasted defeat in their last home fixture of the season meanwhile was on the 24th of May 2009: losing 3-2 against Roma.
