MILAN MARCH ON to Coppa Italia Semifinal

Rossoneri run out 2-1 winners over Carpi in the quarter-final of the TIM Cup.

(IN THE PHOTO: Bacca celebrates his opener) MILAN – First half goals from Bacca and Niang helped Milan to a 2-1 victory over Carpi on Wednesday night and book a place in the semi-finals of the TIM Cup where they will meet one of Spezia or Alessandria.

The Colombian found the opener after 14 minutes, beating the offside trap and rounding the Carpi goalkeeper before putting the ball into the back of the net with a classy rabona finish.

Bacca then turned provider just before the half-hour mark, racing down the left and picking out Niang who made no mistakes from close range to double Milan’s lead.

Carpi rarely threatened in the first half, but pulled one back on 50 minutes after second half substitute Mancosu finished off a counter attack.

Milan eventually got back into their stride and went close to restoring their two goal cushion. Bonaventura saw a free-kick whistle just wide of the target while Honda had a shot deflected out for a corner on an Antonelli pull-back.
