Liam Delap recorded an assist during his debut for Chelsea, while Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernández each found the net, leading the Blues to a 2-0 win against LAFC in the Group D opener for both teams at the Club World Cup held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, USA, on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Chelsea opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Neto expertly received a long pass from Nicolas Jackson, deceiving defender Ryan Hollingshead with a feint before striking the ball past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris into the net.

The second goal came in the 79th minute when Delap delivered a stunning cross to Fernández, who finished with a left-footed shot from close range, beating Lloris. This marked Delap’s first appearance for Chelsea since transferring from Ipswich Town earlier in June. Chelsea will continue its group stage on Friday against Flamengo in Philadelphia, while LAFC is set to face ES Tunis later that same day in Nashville.
