The Serie A Week 33 clash between Empoli and Venezia ended with a draw on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy. This match represents a critical fight for survival, with Empoli currently in 19th place and Venezia in 18th, both teams tied at 25 points.
The action unfolded in the second half, with Empoli initially taking the lead thanks to Fazzini’s goal, assisted by Henderson. However, Yeboah quickly equalized for Venezia following a corner, where Vasquez played a crucial role. In the closing moments, Busio helped Venezia complete their comeback, but just a couple of minutes later, Anjorin netted a stunning curling shot from the edge of the box to make it 2-2.
Coach Stats: This marks the fifth encounter between Roberto D’Aversa and Eusebio Di Francesco, and the record stands even with each coach having secured one victory (D’Aversa with Parma in 2018 and Di Francesco with Frosinone last season) along with two draws. Notably, Di Francesco’s teams have found the net in all four matches played.
Empoli gained the advantage in the 59th minute when Jacopo Fazzini found the net with a right-footed shot from just a few feet away, placing the ball into the bottom left corner. The setup came from Liam Henderson, who delivered a precise cross from the right side of the box. Fazzini skillfully maneuvered between two Venezia defenders to score on the fly!
