Stats BEFORE the game
Inter has triumphed in 12 of their last 13 official encounters with Torino (1 draw) – all in Serie A – winning the last seven in a row; the Nerazzurri have never managed to secure eight straight wins against the Granata in all competitions (since 1929/30), with a previous streak of seven occurring between 2002 and 2008.
Torino’s most recent win over Inter in an official match was over seven years ago, on January 27, 2019, in Serie A: a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Armando Izzo, while Walter Mazzarri was the coach at the Olimpico Grande Torino.
Inter and Torino are set to face each other again in a match outside of Serie A for the first time in 35 years, since January 23, 1991, in the Coppa Italia round of 16. The Granata, under coach Emiliano Mondonico, knocked out the Nerazzurri, managed by Giovanni Trapattoni, in that round with a 1-0 home win in the second leg, after losing 2-1 away in the first leg.
This will mark the 16th encounter between Inter and Torino in the Coppa Italia: the Granata currently lead with eight victories to five, alongside two draws – only against Milan (10) have the Granata secured more wins in the tournament than against the Nerazzurri (eight, equal to their tally against Roma).
After suffering defeats in their first two home matches in the Coppa Italia against Torino (from 1939 to 1968), Inter has since won all five of their following home games against the Granata in the tournament, netting eight goals and allowing just one.
In the last six editions of the Coppa Italia (since 2019/20), Inter has reached the semi-finals five times; they only missed out on the penultimate stage in 2023/24, when Bologna eliminated them in the round of 16. Torino could advance to the Coppa Italia semi-finals for the first time since 1993/94; indeed, in the last four editions where they reached the quarter-finals, the Granata were eliminated at this stage (2022/23 against Fiorentina, 2019/20 against Milan, 2017/18 against Juventus, and 2008/09 against Lazio).
