Viola coach Vincenzo Montella met with reporters today on the eve of Fiorentina’s league match against Catania.

What’s your assessment of Fiorentina’s transfer business?
“That’s not the most important thing at the moment. The club have acted very swiftly: the management team have done a great job. Anderson has to go back to England to sort out a visa issue but he trained with us for the first time today.”

What about Matri?
“He’s used to playing in Serie A and has a great work ethic. There’s a good chance he could feature tomorrow.”

What do you expect from Catania?
“It will be a special game and a difficult one. They have lots of qualities. They made it very tough for us in our first meeting this season. I expect it to be a very hard-fought match.”

Do you expect any more signings?
“The owners have proved they want to improve the team. If anyone else arrives, I’ll be happy. We might be able to do something else.”

Anderson?
“He’s a bright lad with a fantastic attitude. He’s already slotted in here.”

Will it be emotional for you returning to Catania?
“I always enjoy going back. I was there last summer too. I hope they can stay up.”

Where will Anderson play?
“He started out as an attacking midfielder but he can play in central midfield too. He’s a versatile player.”

Is the team you have now as good as the one with Gomez and Rossi?
“What’s done is done. You get injuries in football. We can’t hide behind excuses like that.”

Giuseppe Rossi?
“Things are going well.”

Why do you think Catania have the worst attack and best defence?
“They’ve been blighted by injuries. But they’ll be at full strength tomorrow.”

MILAN – The young Rossoneri have completed a stunning comeback to book their place in the semi-finals of the Al Kass International Cup.
The Allievi I/II side, coached by Cristian Brocchi, despite going 2-0 down after the first half, fought their way back into the game with goals from Zanellato, Spinelli and El Hilali. Well done to all the players!

MILAN – Here’s some of what Andrea Mandorlini had to say in his pre-match press conference this afternoon:
“Seedorf’s arrival will definitely bring a lot of enthusiasm. However, despite the high esteem that I hold the Dutchman in and how curious I am to see him at work, I don’t believe that he has a magic wand. We have to take advantage of their weaknesses to play a big game and cause them problems. They’re obviously favorites given the quality of their players. We’ll have to be patient and very attentive defensively, do what we know and what we’ve been doing so well in the first half of the season. I’m very attached to Jorginho but his development is all down to him. He did a lot for us and we’re happy for him that he’s going to play for a big club. Tactically it’s a big loss for us. I never even needed to talk to him, just a look was enough to communicate. We have other solutions though in Cirigliano, Donati and Donadel who have always done well when they’ve been called upon.”
