At the same stadium where he enjoyed an excellent season with Roma, Leonardo Spinazzola was once again impressive this evening. His man of the match award was recognition for someone who has become one of the best players in the world on the flank: “It was the perfect match: we scored three and didn’t concede,” said the Azzurri No.4 after the game. “We played some excellent football, and seeing fans in the stands was incredible.”

Feeling the warmth of a crowd only gives you more motivation, as confirmed by Leonardo Bonucci: “It’s a different game when you’re surrounded by all these people. Now, let’s take the positives, cancel out any negatives and think about our next match. I hoped that the opening match would be like this, but this is just the first step on a long journey. We need to keep our feet on the ground and display great humility. The games are in close succession and the others will become increasingly familiar with us. But we’re aware that we can give anyone a game.”
