✅ Stats before the game: This will be the first time that Atlético Madrid will host Inter, in all competitions. The Colchoneros have won seven of their last nine home matches against Italian teams: the exceptions were the draw (2-2) against Juventus, in September 2019, and the defeat (0-1) against Milan, in November 2021. Inter have not won in 10 away games (D3, L7) against Spanish teams in the Champions League, i.e. since the success against Valencia, 5-1, in October 2004. Atlético Madrid’s 1-0 defeat in the first leg represented the sixth defeat suffered by the Spaniards in their debut match in the knockout phase of the Champions League; the Colchoneros ultimately progressed the first two times (against Bayer Leverkusen in 2014-15 and Barcelona in 2015-16), while they were eliminated in each of the last three (against Real Madrid in 2016-17, the Chelsea in 2020-21 and Man City in 2021-22).
Inter have progressed through seven of the eight previous rounds of the Champions League knockout phase in which they won the first leg.
We are going to extra time. It is a difficult match for Inter unable to defend the draw in the first 45 minutes and conceded the goal in the 87th minute, scored by the newly substitute Depay.
