AS Roma gets an important draw at the Etihad Stadium thanks to Captain Francesco Totti.   Roma being down making a comeback under the leadership of Roman gladiator Totti to keep the squad alive in the Champions League.  It’s a historical goal for Totti becoming the oldest player, 38 years old and three days, to score in Champions League breaking the previous record by Ryan Giggs with 37 years and 295 days.

Group E Standing after matchday 2 seeing Roma in the second position with 4 points while Manchester City in the 3rd position with 1 point.

Things started bad for Roma when Referee Björn Kuipers granted a penalty to Manchester City.  It is Roma defender Maicon to concede the penalty after a foul on forward Sergio Aguero.  Taking the penalty spot is Aguero himself… and there you go…. Aguero with a right footed shot defeating AS Roma goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski in the bottom right corner.

Taking care of business is Capitano Totti in the 23rd minute!  Yep, Totti making a fast run to catch the assist by midfielder Radja Nainggolan.. and I love how Totti control the ball with style to deliver his right footed shot while Manchester City goalkeeper anticipates to save, but nothing to do because Totti following the direction of the ball start his celebration while the ball went directly to the bottom right corner.

Countdown to the Calderon

Strategy and tactics form the basis of Juve’s penultimate workout ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s departure for Spain. Massimiliano Allegri and Gigi Buffon to meet the media in Madrid at 18.45 CET

Juventus returned to Vinovo this afternoon to continue their preparations for Wednesday night’s intriguing Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.

Despite finding themselves playing catch-up in Group A following an opening day defeat to Olympiacos, Diego Simeone’s reigning champions enter the game full of confidence after bouncing back strongly with two wins from their last two La Liga games, the latest of which a convincing 4-0 demolition of in-form Sevilla on Saturday night.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men will therefore be on red alert during what is expected to be a finely poised tactical battle between the two European heavyweights, with strategy one of the main aspects worked on during this afternoon’s session at Juventus Center.

After spending yesterday in separate groups, Allegri reunited his charges for a detailed training ground briefing in which he guided the team through the precise movements to be deployed when they cross the white line in the Spanish capital.

Tomorrow will see the Bianconeri conduct their final preparations at the club’s Vinovo training complex ahead of boarding an afternoon flight bound for Madrid’s Barajas airport.

The session, open to the media for the first 15 minutes, is scheduled to get underway at 11.00 CET, while the traditional pre-match press conference, to be conducted by Allegri and Gigi Buffon, will be held at the Vicente Calderon from 18.45 onwards.
