Olympiacos – Juventus

Juventus archiving the Serie A Week 7 draw, Sassuolo 1- 1 Juventus, and returning to training on Sunday 19 October at the Centro Sportivo in Vinovo.  Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is preparing now the Champions League Matchday 3 game, Olympiacos vs Juventus to be played on Wednesday 22 October in Greece.

Juventus open training in front of over 250 fans on Sunday morning also attended by sponsors, the Juventus Soccer School team J-Stars, Premium Members and representatives from 12 Juventus Club Doc supporters’ organisations: Castiglione d’Adda, Juventus Club Ali, Juventus Club Alta Val Mure, Cerano, Oltrefrontiera, Gonnosfanadiga, Trino, Faule, Chiavari, Usmate Velate, Canavese Bianconero and Settimo Terza Stella.

Atletico Madrid are  in Group A 1st position with 3 points  and Juventus down to the 2nd position also with 3 points.

As reported by Juventus official website, those who featured in last night’s 1-1 draw with Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia underwent just a warm-down in the gym, while it was business as usual for the remainder of the squad in an open session at the club’s Juventus Center training complex.

Under the watchful eyes of Andrea Agnelli, Pavel Nedved, Fabio Paratici and over 250 fans housed in the stand overlooking the training pitch, Massimiliano Allegri’s men underwent a long and thorough workout, focusing largely on play in the final third.

Passing, crossing and finishing drills then gave way to a six-a-side practice match contested on a reduced surface. Arturo Vidal hit six of the winning team’s 10, while Alvaro Morata weighed in with three of the opposition’s eight.

Once the match was complete, Juventus went back to sharpening up their technique in front of goal before heading over to thank the fans with autographs and photos.

Juventus will return to training on Monday afternoon.

The Bianconeri’s next Champions League opponents come twice from behind to beat Ergotelis 3-2. Malmo slip to defeat against Elfsborg, Atletico victorious over Espanyol

The Bianconeri’s upcoming Champions League opponents Olympiacos warmed up for Wednesday night’s affair in Greece by registering a thrilling last-gasp 3-2 away win over Ergotelis on Saturday evening.

An end-to-end affair throughout, the breakthrough eventually came when Mohamed Youssouf shot the hosts in front two minutes before the interval, only for Konstantinos Mitroglou to restore parity on the stroke of half-time.

Ergotelis regained their lead ten minutes into the restart through Angelos Chandi, but another swift reply, this time from Alejandro Dominguez, set up a show stopping finish.

And just as it looked like both sides would settle for what would have been a fair share of the spoils on balance, Mitroglou popped up with his second on 90 minutes to lift Olympiacos up into third, two points off leaders Veria.

In Sweden, Elfsborg upset Malmo’s title celebrations by running out 2-1 winners at the Swedbank Stadion.

It all looked to be going swimmingly for the hosts after Markus Rosenburg shot them in front with just one minute played, but the away side turned the game on its head through Johan Larsson’s second-half double.

On Sunday, goals in each half from former Bianconeri midfielder Tiago and Mario Suarez helped Atletico Madrid to a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Espanyol at the Vicente Calderon.

The win keeps Diego Simone’s men in fifth place in La Liga, five points adrift of current table toppers Barcelona.

   Atletico Madrid 1 – 0 Juventus

Juventus defeated by Atletico de Madrid at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.  It’s a step back for Juventus suffering a lost after their Matchday 1 win while Atletico Madrid returig to victory after their lost to Olympiacos.   Sadly, the record for Juventus in Spain still tough to beat suffering 15 lost.

Atletico Madrid are now in Group A 1st position with 3 points  and Juventus down to the 2nd position also with 3 points.

It seems  the 3-5-2 formation with coach Massimiliano Allegri trusting the attack led by Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente was not enough to defeat Atletico.   Juventus conceding the first goal this season in the Champions League.

Atletico de Madrid opening the score in the 74th minute with forward Arda Turan defeating Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon wiht a left footed shot in the bottom left corner.  The assist is by defender Juanfran.

Problems for Juventus with a forced substitution in the 78th minute.  Defender Martin Caceres is injured and  cannot continue and is repalced by Roberto Pereyra.

Allegri trying different changes to revert the result.  In the 83rd minute, Juventus replacing midfiedler Arturo Vidal with the ex Real Madrid player Morata.  Surely, emotional game for Morata because he was also listed in the Atletico Madrid’s youth team and being also a ball boy here at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
