🏆 👉  AC Milan claimed the duel winning on aggregate.  The UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals Second Leg ended with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday 18 April 2023 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy.  The fact is that Milan break a fast that has been going on since 2007, the year in which they won the last Champions League Semifinal, for the first time in 16 years.  AC Milan faced and passed the round against Manchester United, to then win the final in Athens against Liverpool.

Six days after the match at San Siro, won by the Devil thanks to Bennacer’s goal. AC Milan have won their last three away games against Napoli, all in Serie A: it is the longest streak of consecutive away wins (on par with the one between 1948 and 1951) recorded by the Rossoneri against the Neapolitans, including the 4-0 earlier this month. The last team Milan beat twice away from home in a single season was Sampdoria in 2015-16.

✍️   Note:  Result Champions League First Leg:  AC Milan 1 – 0 Napoli

AC Milan wasted a good chance to open the score. In the 22nd minute, Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret saved Olivier Giroud’s left footed shot saved in the bottom right corner. The penalty was conceded by Mário Rui after a foul on forward Rafael Leão.

The moment for redemption arrived for Olivier Giroud. Yep, Giroud scored the opening goal in teh 43rd minute after failing his penalty. This time is no error, but a valuable goal with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Rafael Leão.

Shining shoes celebration….. the dynamic duo

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia failed the chance to shorten the distance. AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved Kvaratskhelia’ penalty right-footed shot saved in the bottom left corner. The penalty was conceded by Fikayo Tomori following a handball.

Napoli scored the honor goal to equalize in the 93rd minute. Forward Victor Osimhen defeated goalkeeper Maignan with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Giacomo Raspadori following a corner conceded by Fikayo Tomori.

✅   Stats before the game: Napoli have already lost twice against Milan in April: 4-0 in Serie A at Maradona and 1-0 at San Siro in the first leg of this match. The last team to beat the Neapolitans three times in one season was Lazio in 1994-95. AC Milan, who started 1-0 in the first leg against Napoli, last reached the semi-finals in the 2006/07 Champions League. The Rossoneri have only been eliminated twice after winning the first leg of a knockout match: in 2003-04 against Deportivo La Coruña in the quarter-finals (4-1 first leg, 0-4 second leg) and in the 2012-13 against Barcelona in the round of 16 (2-0 and 0-4). Napoli have not lost in 12 home games (W9 D3) in the Champions League, i.e. since the 4-2 defeat against Man City in November 2017. The Neapolitans have won four home games this season, scoring at least three goals in each of these. AC Milan have not conceded a goal in their last five Champions League matches: this is the longest streak for a team, since Manchester City in 2020-21 (seven in a row). The Rossoneri boast only one longer streak in the competition: seven clean sheets in the 2004-05 season, before reaching the final.
