Hello my friends, we are starting the New Year 2018 and I surely wish you the best with your favorite teams!!!   Here are the 2017-2018 Serie A Week 20 Results for the Twentieth Round on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 January 2018.

Napoli securing the first position after defeating Hellas Verona at the San Paolo Stadium with a 2-0. Napoli reaching 51 points.    The race for the Scudetto continues to be a two-race. Juventus defeating Cagliari at the Sardega Arena reaching 50 points.  Napoli having only -1 point above Juventus. 

A big flop.   AS Roma with a major step back seeing their chances to climb to the top 2 positions disappearing.   Roma losing the home game at the Olimpico Stadium against Atalanta with a 1-2 remaining with 39 points.      Roma going down from the 4th to the 5th position.

Inter failing to win the match against Chievo Verona at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium ending with another draw 1-1. Last week, Inter also with a draw 0-0 against Lazio at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.  You bet it is a step back for Inter because with 42 points they are now -9 points below Napoli.     Making matters worst, Inter might lose the third position next round in case of losing the match against AS Roma at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium because Roma have a better goal difference and the victory will put Roma with 42 points.

Good news for Lazio!   Lazio defeating SPAL and jumped from the 5th to the 4th position because Roma lost the match against Atalanta.  Lazio reaching 40 points.

AC Milan defeating Crotone with a 2-0.   A ray of hope gaining these 3 points reaching 28 points while for Crotone is a cold shower because the defeat keeps them in the relegation zone.   Milan in the 11th position is under pressure to save this season as they are in the other side of the Table.

The sad news is for the three teams remaining in the relegation zone: Crotone, Hellas Verona, and Benevento.  It is already a wake up call for all three to react as we are starting the second part of the season and their chances to remain in Serie A are in jeopardy.   Benevento gaining momentum after winning their second game this season reaching now 7 points.   Benevento defeated Sampdoria with a 3-2 at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito delighting their fans.  Yet, despite Benevento’s victory, they are still in the last position.  Hey, but this victory is an added boost to believe in salvation.

Inter slowing down lately losing points and risking to even lose the third position.  It seems their objective to climb again to the first position is getting complicated.   Inter with 42 points is now -6 points below Napoli having 48 points.

Inter opening the score in the 55th minute. It is Argentinean forward Mauro Icardi to defeat Fiorentina goalkeeper Sportiello with a right footed shot in the center.  It’s the 18th goal of the season by Icardi leading the top scorer.

A stop for Inter.   Fiorentina equalizing in the 91st minute for the final 1-1.  It is forward Giovanni Simeone to defeat Inter goalkeeper with a left footed shot in the bottom left corner.  The assist is by Valentin Eysseric.

Hello my friends, we have finished the Year 2017.  Here are the 2017-2018 Serie A Week 19 Results for the Nineteenth Round on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 December 2017.   I want to thank you for your loyalty and look forward to continue with your supportin the upcoming 2018.

Napoli securing the first position ending 2017 as “Champions of Winter / Campione d’Inverno.”  Napoli defeated Crotone in the away game reaching 48 points.   Juventus defeating Hellas Verona in the away game at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium ending in the second position with 47 points.    The race for the Scudetto  turning from a three-way to a two-race.   Napoli having only -1 point above Juventus.

AS Roma slowing down their race after the 1-1 draw with Sassuolo at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  A sweet and sour draw.   It’s more a sweet draw for Sassuolo because they grabbed a point against their ex-coach Eusebio Di Francesco.   Roma failing to win the home game and remain in the 4th position with 39 points.  Good news is that Roma is only -2 points below Inter in the 3rd position with 41 points.

Inter failing to defeat Lazio at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium ending the game with a 0-0.   A step back for Inter because they are now -7 points below Napoli.

Fiorentina and AC Milan also ending with a draw.  It is a 1-1 result not really helping the Rossoneri on their quest to climb the Serie A Table to the top 5 positions.  Milan ending the season in the 11th position with 25 points and Fiorentina in the 8th position with 27 points.

The sad news is for the three teams remaining in the relegation zone: Crotone, Hellas Verona, and Benevento. There is a joyful moment for Benevento winning their first game this season after defeating Chievo Verona.  A joy for the fans seeing their team winning in the Serie A after their promotion from Serie B.
