Parma, 18th position with 20 points and a negative goal difference of -15

The Derby dell’Emilia is set. Parma won the Serie A Week 26 on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Ennio Tardini Stadium in Parma, Italy. Parma secured a solid 2-0 victory over Bologna, leaving no room for doubt. Bologna, despite their energetic efforts, fell short against a well-structured and shrewd Parma team. Chivu certainly made a good debut with this win. The goals came from Bonny and Sohm, with Dennis Man also making a positive impact after coming on. Bologna, on the other hand, had a disappointing performance. In the upcoming Serie A match, Parma will take on Udinese, while Bologna will face Cagliari.

Parma bounce back after a narrow 0-1 loss to Roma, while Bologna comes into the game with momentum from a thrilling 3-2 victory over Torino.

Cristian Chivu is making his coaching debut for Parma in the match against Bologna, following the departure of former coach Fabio Pecchia.

Parma gained the advantage in the 37th minute when Ange-Yoan Bonny successfully converted a penalty, sending a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner. The penalty was awarded after a foul by Sam Beukema.

In the 78th minute, Parma extended their lead to 2-0. Simon Sohm found the back of the net with a left-footed shot that curled into the top right corner, thanks to an assist from Dennis Man.

✅Stats before the game

Bologna has gone unbeaten in their last 10 Serie A encounters with Parma, recording 4 wins and 6 draws. The last time Parma triumphed over Bologna in the top division was on December 22, 2012, when they came back to win 2-1 at the Dall’Ara, thanks to goals from Jaime Valdés and Nicola Sansone after Frederik Sörensen had initially scored for Bologna.

Bologna also secured a victory in their most recent away match against Parma, winning 3-0 on February 7, 2021, but they have yet to achieve back-to-back away wins against the Gialloblù in Serie A. In the last five derbies between teams from Emilia-Romagna in Serie A, the home side has remained unbeaten, with 2 wins and 3 draws, following a period where the away teams had claimed five victories in the previous seven matches.

In the 2025 calendar year, Parma has the unfortunate distinction of having the fewest points in Serie A, managing only two points from seven matches, a record they share with Empoli. Specifically, the Crociati have suffered four straight losses, marking the first time this has happened in the current season.

The last time they experienced five consecutive defeats in Serie A was between April and May 2021, when they lost nine matches in total. On a brighter note, Bologna (3 wins, 4 draws) is one of three teams that remain unbeaten in Serie A since the start of 2025, alongside Roma and Napoli. The Emilians are on track to avoid defeat in their first eight games of a calendar year in Serie A for the first time since 2005, when they recorded four wins and four draws.

Lecce lost the Serie A Week 26 match on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy. Notably, Udinese has managed to keep a clean sheet in four of the last five matches played at the Via del Mare.  Udinese has secured 10 points over their last four matches. Hence, solidifying their position in 10th place with a total of 36 points. Udinese took all three points from a determined Lecce, who put up a strong fight in the second half.

The game was ultimately decided by a penalty kick successfully converted by Lorenzo Lucca, who has now reached 10 goals this season. Lecce’s positive run comes to an end. That is, they are unable to extend their lead over the relegation zone.  Looking ahead to the next matchday, Udinese will welcome Chivu’s Parma to the Bluenergy Stadium, while Lecce will face Fiorentina in Florence.

Incredible! Como pulled off a surprise by defeating Fiorentina 2-0 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium. This away victory is a significant achievement for Como, especially with goals from Diao and Nico Paz. Fiorentina faced a tough loss at home, marking their second consecutive defeat in the league. With this win, Como has moved further away from the relegation zone, now sitting five points clear of the third-last position. They had only managed to secure one victory in 2025 prior to this match.  Meanwhile, Fiorentina has seen a dip in form with these back-to-back losses. They were close to reaching the 4th place, which is crucial for Champions League qualification, but could find themselves four points behind Juventus if they lose to Inter this evening.

Monza finally gets back on the scoreboard after suffering four straight losses, narrowing the gap to the safety zone to just seven points, thanks to Empoli’s defeat against Udinese. They now find themselves level with Como and Cagliari in thirteenth place. Meanwhile, Lecce has moved five points clear of third-from-bottom Parma, who are set to face Roma soon.

What an incredible Derby d’Italia! On Sunday, February 16, 2025, Juventus triumphed over Inter in Serie A Week 25 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy. This win has shaken up the league standings.  Inter, sitting at 54 points, missed the opportunity to surpass Napoli, who leads with 56 points. Meanwhile, Juventus, now at 46 points, has leveled with Lazio, putting them in the race for a Champions League spot. The standout player was Francisco Fernandes da Conceição, who netted the only goal of the match, securing bragging rights for his team.

This victory is crucial for Juventus as they look to boost their morale heading into the season’s final stretch. Inter had their chances, especially in the first half, but they faced a more determined Juventus after halftime. In the closing moments, Thuram had two opportunities to equalize but couldn’t find the finishing touch. Ultimately, Juventus delivered a strong second half, with Conceição’s goal sealing the deal in this thrilling Derby d’Italia.

The match …

Following a grueling hour-long match, Juventus finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute. Francisco Fernandes da Conceição found the net with a precise left-footed shot into the bottom left corner, thanks to an assist from Randal Kolo Muani.  Sensational, Muani skillfully maneuvered in the area, executing a clever move before delivering a perfect pass to his teammate, who then scored past Sommer.

Francisco Fernandes da Conceição is celebrating joyfully after netting a goal against Inter. With his arms wide open, it’s as if he’s embracing all the thrilled Juventus fans who are ecstatic about taking the lead.

Following the thrilling 4-4 draw in their first meeting on October 27, Juventus and Inter have the chance to end the season with two draws for only the fourth time in history, with previous instances occurring in 2001/2002, 1994/1995, and 1988/1989.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:

Parma, 18th position with 20 points and a negative goal difference of -14

Roma secured a victory against Parma in the Serie A Week 25 match on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Ennio Tardini Stadium in Parma, Italy. This win boosts Roma’s points to 37, while Parma remains at 20 points, just one point away from escaping the relegation zone. The game was tightly contested, with Soule’s brilliant free kick in the first half proving to be the turning point. Parma struggled after Leali received a red card in the 31st minute, leaving them a man down for more than an hour. As the match drew to a close, Parma made efforts to advance, but the Giallorossi held their ground comfortably.

Parma is on a tough streak, having lost their last four matches. Their last win was back in late December when they defeated Monza 2-1 at home.  Now, Parma finds themselves in the relegation zone and is desperately seeking points for survival, while Roma is focused on their upcoming Europa League clash with Porto and needs a win to re-enter the European competition.

The match …

Parma is in a difficult spot. In the 31st minute, Referee Chiffi sends off Giovanni Leoni with a red card for a foul on Matías Soulé, leaving the team with only ten players. Initially, Roma is awarded a penalty, but after a VAR review, it’s found that the foul took place outside the penalty area. This results in a free-kick for Roma and a red card for Leoni.

Roma gained the advantage in the 33rd minute when Matías Soulé expertly curled a left-footed free kick into the top right corner. Positioned just outside the area, Soulé struck the ball perfectly, sending it just beneath the crossbar and nearly grazing the top corner.

Image

Lorenzo Pellegrini creating danger! The midfielder gets the ball at the edge of the box, spins to his left, and takes a shot at an angle. Suzuki is right on it again, deflecting it out for a corner.

✅  Stats before the game:

Parma has faced Roma more than any other team in Serie A, suffering 34 defeats out of 55 encounters, with the Giallorossi claiming victory. The Emilians have managed to win 11 times and there have been 10 draws in their history together.

In their last 15 Serie A meetings, there has only been one draw between Parma and Roma, which ended 0-0 on February 15, 2015, at the Olimpico. The Giallorossi have dominated with 11 wins compared to Parma’s three.

Interestingly, Parma has triumphed in their last two home matches against Roma, both ending 2-0 without conceding. The only time they achieved more consecutive home wins against the Giallorossi was between 1990 and 1993, when they won three straight at the Tardini. After suffering three consecutive losses, Parma is at risk of losing four in a row for the first time this season. The last time they experienced such a streak in Serie A was from April to May 2021, when they faced nine defeats.
