The game towards salvation ends with a draw.    Spezia fail to win the Serie A Week 26 game at the Alberto Picco Stadium in Spezia, Italy.  Spezia 15th in the table ahead of Benevento in 16th.    The draw not helping any and both teams remain with same points reaching now 26 points.  The relegation zone is still a danger if losing more games.

Highlight of the match is Benevento defender Kamil Glik  making his  300th appearance in the five major European leagues.  Glik is the fourth Polish player to reach this milestone among footballers who made their debut in the 2000s, after Robert Lewandowski, Lukasz Piszczek and Ludovic Obraniak.

  • Stats before the game.  Benevento have won 5 of the last 8 games between the two teams and Spezia with 3 wins.   This is the second time Spezia and Benevento challenge each other in Serie A after their promotion from Serie B.  The first game in favor of Spezia with a 3-0 away win from home. Spezia striker M’Bala Nzola’s first two goals in Serie A came in the first leg against Benevento: double in the 3-0 win.

The game Lazio vs Torino was not played.  Torino did not travel to Rome as the ASL blocked their trip after the verification of COVID-19 cases.   The Sporting Judge  will announce in the next days the final decision.  Until the game is played, Torino are down in the relegation zone in the 18th position.

Juventus win the Serie A Week 25 game against Spezia on Tuesday 2 March 2021 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.   Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first player to score 20+ goals in each of the last 12 seasons in the top-5 European Leagues after his goal against Spezia in the 89th minute. Surely, an amazing history for Ronaldo playing his 600th league game. Spezia needing points to keep away from the relegation zone.   Moreover, Cristiano scoring his 20th goal this season reaching a total of 767 official goals just like Pele!!!!

Napoli with a sprint race to climb to the top 5 positions. The mission was to win the Serie A Week 25 game against Sassuolo on Wednesday 3 March 2021 at the Mapei Stadium.  Sassuolo battled literally until the very last minute and saying “NO” to Napoli in the 93rd minute by equalizing with a 3-3. It’s a cold shower for Napoli Coach Gennaro Gattuso and a boost for Sassuolo Coach Roberto De Zerbi celebrating his 100th game with Sassuolo.

AC Milan succumbing to the pressure failing to win the Serie A Week 25 game against Udinese on Wednesday 3 March 2021 at the San Siro Stadium.  AC Milan struggled and saved one point literally in the last minute!  In the 97th minute, Franck Kessie converting the penalty for the 1-1.   Surely, a flop for AC Milan on their quest to regain the first position losing this home game.

Good news for Cagliari!  Yep, Cagliari leaving the relegation zone after defeating Bologna with a 1-0 at the Sardegna Arena. This is the second win in a row for new Cagliari Coach Semplici on his quest to rebuild the team. The winner goal scored by Rugani in the 20th minute.  Bologna interrupting their last 4 unbeaten games.  Salvation is still a challenge because Cagliari are just +1 point above Torino with 20 points and two pending games.

Atalanta crushing, humiliating Crotone!  What a goleada!  Atalanta with a 5-1 leaving Crotone in the last position of the Serie A.  It’s just a nightmare for Crotone losing their 19th game this season winning only 3 games and 3 draws.  It seems the relegation to the Serie B is just around the corner, unless something happens.  Atalanta reaching 49 points just like Juventus and the battle for the 3rd position next round will be a thriller.   Juventus with a pending game still look to defend their Scudetto title.  Sour debut for new Crotone Coach Serse Cosmi.

Fiorentina falling at the Artemio Franchi Stadium!  AS Roma grabbing this important away victory reaching 47 points just -2 points below Atalanta and Juventus.

The Derby della Lanterna ended with a 1-1 draw.  The bragging rights are shared with Genoa and Sampdoria.   One point not enough to claim the full bragging rights to rule in Genoa.

Parma failing to win the Serie A Week 25 game defeated by Inter on Thursday 4 March 2021 at the Ennio Tardini Stadium.  Parma needed the victory to dream with salvation remaining in the 19th position.  The victory increases the gap for Inter reaching 59 points keeping the first position and a +6 points above AC Milan with 53 points in the second position.  Parma losing their 14th game this season.

Parma shortening the distance for the 1-2 in the 71st minute. It is Hernani to defeat Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic with a right footed shot to the center with assist by Giuseppe Pezzella.

Way to go for Alexis Sánchez becoming the second Chilean player to score +2 goals in a Serie A game for Inter. The last one was Iván Zamorano “Bam Bam El Zamorano”.

  • Stats before the game.  Inter are unbeaten in four Serie A matches against Parma (2W, 2N), the longest streak for Inter against Parma since 2010 (7 on that occasion).
    After the 2-2 draw last October, Inter and Parma could draw both Serie A matches for the first time since 2004/05.  Parma have lost three of their last four Serie A home games against Inter (1W), as many defeats as in all their previous 22 home games against the Nerazzurri in the top flight.  Parma have collected only eight points in their first 12 home games of this Serie A: only in 2014/15 (seven), the year of relegation, did they do worse at home at this point of the season.    Parma (36) is the team that has used the largest number of players in this league, on the other Inter is the one that has sent out the least (22).  Yann Karamoh made his Serie A debut with Inter (17 league appearances) in 2017 – in his only match in the competition against the Nerazzurri he scored a goal and served an assist, in the 2-2 in October 2019.
    Looking at all competitions, Romelu Lukaku scored 58 goals for Inter; since wearing the Nerazzurri (2019/20) among the players of the top-5 European leagues only two have done better: Lewandowski (89) and Cristiano Ronaldo (63).  From 2018/19 to today Alessandro Bastoni is the only Italian player born after 1/1/1999 to have made at least 20 appearances in each of the last three Serie A championships (24 with Parma 2018/19, 25 with Inter 2019/20, 21 with Inter 2020/21).
