Salernitana looking to win the Serie A Week 17 game against Torino on Sunday 8 January 2023 at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy.   The two teams face off for the fifth time in Serie A, with all precedents in favor of the Piedmontese team. In the cadet series, however, the two teams faced each other 12 times, with five wins each and two draws.
Salernitana, on the other hand, suffered a home defeat against Pioli’s Milan a few days ago with the result of 1-2.   Salernitana, however, held on to the match until the last moment thanks to a sensational debut by Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa, who saved the goal with numerous decisive interventions, and Bonazzoli’s goal 10 from the end. Today the team coached by Davide Nicola has the chance to redeem the defeat and get back up in the standings.

Torino opened the score in the 36th minute. Antonio Sanabria defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Valentino Lazaro.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 4th position with 33 points and a positive goal difference of +13
Monza, 14th position with 17 points and a negative goal difference of -6

Monza passed a tough test with flying colors.  Monza ended the Serie A Week 17 game against Inter with a late equalizer on Saturday 7 January 2023 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy.  Inter suffered this blow after “almost grabbing” this victory, yet, they remain unbeaten in 25 Serie A rounds against newly promoted teams.  Inter lost 2 points.

In the next round of the championship, Monza will play away against Cremonese, Inter will play at home against Hellas Verona.

Inter opened the score in the 10th minute. Matteo Darmian defeated Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio from very close range with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Alessandro Bastoni.

Monza responded immediately equalizing for the 1-1 just a minute after Darmian’s goal. In the 11th minute, it is Patrick Ciurria to defeat Inter goalkeeper André Onana with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Matteo Pessina.

Inter took back the lead in the 22nd minute. Argentinean forward Lautaro Martínez

What a beautiful closing for Monza equalizing for the 2-2 in the 93rd minute. The ex-Inter player Luca Caldirola equalized for Monza with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Patrick Ciurria.

Image

Stats before the game: Inter are unbeaten in 25 Serie A rounds against newly promoted teams (W22, D3). More specifically, the Nerazzurri are coming off nine consecutive wins against opponents from Serie B and could reach 10 in a row for the first time since 2003, with Héctor Cúper on the bench.  With one success, Inter (67) could equal Roma (68) as the team that has found victory against the most different opponents in the history of Serie A (Juventus, Lazio, Bologna and Fiorentina also have 67).  Inter are the third opponent from Lombardy that Monza faces in Serie A after Milan and Atalanta (2P). Also considering the cadet tournament, the red and white have collected just one point in the last five matches against teams from this region (1-1 vs Brescia last April) after having won 12 in as many previous matches (W4, L1). Inter have failed to find success in 12 of their last 16 away games against Lombard opponents outside San Siro in Serie A, drawing eight times (P4), two of which in the most recent three. After the 2-0 draw against Verona and the 3-0 draw against Salernitana, Monza could achieve three straight home wins for the first time in the top division. Also considering Serie B, the red and white have not succeeded since last April: three, all with clean sheets.

👉 Lineup Monza (3-5-2): Di Gregorio; Izzo, Marlon, Marì; Birindelli, Machin, Pessina, Ciurria, Carlos Augusto; Mota, Petagna.

👉 Lineup Inter (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, Acerbi, A. Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, Lautaro.

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Juventus, 3rd position with 34 points and a positive goal difference of +18
Udinese, 8th position with 25 points and a positive goal difference of +7

Juventus with a sprint race climbing the Standing.   Juventus won the Serie A Week 17 game against Udinese on Saturday 7 January 2023 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.  A precious victory without conceding a goal in 8 games.   Juventus have won 10 of their last 13 matches against Udinese in Serie A (D2, L1) always going on target. After the 2-0 in the most recent clash, Juventus could hit two wins in a row without conceding a goal against Udinese for the first time since 2018 (two between March and October).

Juventus opened the score just in time. Four minutes before ending the game! Danilo defeated Udinese goalkeeper with a right footed to the high center. The assist is by Federico Chiesa following a corner conceded by Nehuén Pérez.

Stats before the game: Udinese have lost 65 games in Serie A against Juventus, more than against any other opponent; in particular, the Friulians have found only one success in the 12 encounters in the league against the black and whites under Massimiliano Allegri in charge (D3, L8), 1-0 on 23 August 2015 at the Stadium. Juventus have won their last six Serie A home ties against Udinese and could, if successful in this match, equal their longest streak of consecutive home wins against the Friulians in the top flight – seven between 1980 and the 1987. Juventus have won their last four Serie A home games without conceding a goal and could find five home wins in a row by keeping clean sheets for the first time since March 2018.  Juventus have won the last seven consecutive games and have not reached eight consecutive successes in Serie A since December 2018, when Massimiliano Allegri sat on the black and white bench; he has also won these seven matches without conceding any goals and hasn’t found eight wins in a row embellished with clean sheets since March 2018 (when, again with Allegri, he reached nine). Udinese have remained unbeaten in three of the four matches this Serie A season against opponents who started the day in the top five positions (W1, D2); in all of the last championship he had succeeded only twice (2D, 7P).

Lineup Juventus (3-5-1-1): Szczesny; Danilo, Rugani, Alex Sandro; McKennie, Miretti, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Di Maria; Kean.

Lineup Udinese (3-5-2): Silvestri; Becao, Bijol, Perez; Pereyra, Lovric, Walace, Makengo, Udogie; Beto, Success.

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 16 RESULTS / Sixteenth Round on Wednesday 4 January 2023. World Cup and Christmas break are over and it’s time to get back to the Serie A.  Happy New Year for all of you. A sour start for Napoli losing their home game at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium defeated by Inter. However, Napoi remained in the first position with 41 points. The good news is for AC Milan in the 2nd position starting with a victory defeating 1-2 reaching 36 points. The gap is shortened to just -5 points.  A bad debut for Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa with new club Salernitana losing his first game.

Another upset is Lazio the away game against Lecce at the Via Del Mare Stadium.  A setback also for Atalanta ending with a 2-2 draw against Spezia.  Atalanta stepped down to the 7th position meaning outside the European zone. Roma with the good news starting New Year with a home victory 1-0 against Bologna.  Juventus not slowing down claiming a victory against Cremonese.

The relegation status remained the same with Sampdoria, Cremonese, and Hellas Verona remaining in the bottom three.

👉 Results from Serie A Week 15

Napoli reassured their leadership by defeating Udinese at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Napoli reached 41 points in the standings. Udinese, on the other hand, remains at 24, putting in the seventh game in a row without success. This is the eleventh consecutive victory for Napoli which then closes 2022 at the top of the Serie A standings. Spalletti’s men, after the 2-0 in the first fraction, round up with Elmas at the start of the second but then risk suffering the return of Udinese. Nestorovski and Samardzic bring the Bianconeri back to the side who, in the final, are no longer able to become dangerous in Meret’s side.  In the next round, Napoli will be a guest of Inter while Udinese will wait for Empoli at the Dacia Arena.

AC Milan with a thriller victory defeating Fiorentina in San Siro Stadium. Milan won three precious points reaching 33 points so as not to lose further ground from Napoli with 41 points in the 1st position. Milan’s success comes in the 92nd minute thanks to an own goal by Milenkovic and an out-of-time exit from goalkeeper Terracciano. Fiorentina leaves San Siro with a bitter taste after an excellent performance and some uncapitalized goal chances in the second half. Fiorentina interrupts the streak of three consecutive victories and remains at 19.  In the next round, Milan will face Salernitana away while Fiorentina will play at home against Monza.

Empoli closed 2022 by defeating Cremonese at the Carlo Castellani Stadium.  Important victory for Empoli who, thanks to the three points earned today, climb to twelfth place in the standings, overtaking Bologna and Sassuolo, on the pitch tomorrow evening in the Emilian derby. The Cremonese, on the other hand, returns to lose after three consecutive draws, collecting the eighth knockout of her championship and ending 2022 without ever having won in Serie A.

Lecce caused an upset defeating Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.   An impressive away victory for Lecce because they return to win in Genoa against Sampdoria since the 2010-11 season. Lecce reached 15 points while Sampdoria remain in the relegation zone with 6 points, the fifth consecutive home defeat, and the fourth ever. The Giallorossi thus repeat last day’s success against Atalanta.  The victory thanks to the goals of Lorenzo Colombo and Lameck Banda.  In the next round, Sampdoria will play the away game against Sassuolo, while Lecce will host Lazio on their pitch.

Bologna won the Emilian Derby defeating Sassuolo at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.   Bologna come from three positive internal results, Sassuolo from three away defeats in a row. In the next round, after the World Cup break, Bologna will start the year at Roma’s home while Sassuolo will host Sampdoria.

Inter  defeated Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. Inter reached 30 points while Atalanta remained with 27 points. Match that unlocks in the 25th, thanks to the penalty scored by Ademola Lookman, after De Vrij’s foul in the area on Zapata. Inter equalized the scores in the 36th with Edin Džeko. In the second half, two own goals gave Inter the lead.  In the next round, Inter will play at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium against Napoli the leaders with 41 points, while Atalanta will play the away game against Spezia.
