✅    Stats before the game:  Only one draw in the last 13 matches between Atalanta and Sassuolo in Serie A (1-1 on 2 May 2021 at the MAPEI Stadium): 10 victories for the Nerazzurri and two successes for the Neroverdi complete the run.  Atalanta have won their last six home games against Sassuolo in Serie A, in their history in Serie A only twice have the Dea recorded more home successes in a row against a single opponent: seven against Bologna between 2013 and 2021 and eight against Livorno between 1947 and 2014. Atalanta have won four games in a row in Serie A for the first time since the period between November and December 2021 (six in that case) – in these four games the Dea has scored 14 goals (3.5 on average per match). Atalanta have won all of their last six matches at the Gewiss Stadium in the league, only four times in their history in Serie A has the Dea achieved seven home successes in a row: in the period between February-May 2021, February-July 2020, December 1967 -March 1968 and April-October 1948. After the 1-1 draw against Torino, Sassuolo could draw at least two matches in a row in the league for the first time since the period between August and September 2022 (series reached three).

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2023-2024 Italian Serie A Week 24 RESULTS / Twenty-fourth Round on Friday 9, Saturday 10, Sunday 11, and Monday 12 February 2024. Inter are in the lead with 60 points after defeating Roma,  Inter also have a game to recover.  Juventus wasted the chance to win the home game and although they are in the second place with 53 points, they are now -7 points below Inter and just +1 over AC Milan.  Udinese claimed a very important away victory by defeating Juventus causing a total upset for the Bianconeri.  In other words, the second position might change in the next round.  Your take?

Salernitana not finding a way out.  Salernitana was defeated at home and remained in the last position.  The good news is for Empoli because the victory helped them leave the relegation zone.

Lazio got an away victory defeating Cagliari and reached 37 points, moving closer to the Champions League zone, while Cagliari remained second to last with only 18 points. Lazio celebrate also their 4000th game in Serie A, just a perfect day. Deiola’s own goal opened, Ciro Immobile doubles (who scored 200 goals in Serie A), Gaetano reopened, and Felipe Anderson sealed the game.

Fiorentina are on a sprint race to climb to the top 6 positions. Fiorentina defeated Frosinone.  Surely, a big celebration at the Franchi, both for the goal and for three very important points in the fight to reach the European zone. With this success, Fiorentina reached to 37 points, provisionally two away from the Champions League zone (Atalanta at 39, but with one game less). Frosinone instead suffered defeat number 13 in this Serie A and continued the away nightmare: 12 games, zero wins, three draws, and nine defeats.

AC Milan are not slowing down and get back to the race for the Scudetto.  Milan keep the 3rd position with 52 points being -8 points below Inter and -1 below Juventus.  Napoli failed and their chances to be among the top 4 is a mirage. The Italian champions need points to get closer to fourth place which means the Champions League. Now in ninth place and with their top scorer, Victor Osimhen, currently involved in the Africa Cup of Nations final between his Nigeria and the Ivory Coast.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Sassuolo, 16th position with 19 points and a negative goal difference of -13
Torino, 10th position with 32 points and a positive goal difference of +1

Sassuolo failed to win the the Serie A Week 24 game on Saturday 10 February 2024 at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy. Sassuolo are closer to the relegation zone. A draw that doesn’t do much for the goals of the two teams. Sassuolo moved to 20 points, +2 from the relegation zone, while Torino reached 33 points away, -1 behind Fiorentina, now ninth.

The two teams created a lot of play but scored very little and in the second half, as the minutes passed, the pace dropped and the match died down, until the last action where Zapata again came close to scoring the winning goal for the Granata with a header.

Torino look for points to enter the Europa League zone. In the last four days two wins and two draws.  After three consecutive defeats, Sassuolo is desperately looking for safety points.

Sassuolo with an early goal in the 5th minute. Andrea Pinamonti defeated Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic with a headed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Marcus Pedersen.

Torino equalized in the 9th minute. Duván Zapata defeated Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli from very close range with a left-footed shot to the center. The assist is by Raoul Bellanova.

✅  Stats before the game: In the last three seasons, since Sassuolo was led by Alessio Dionisi and Torino by Ivan Juric, the match between these two teams has never resulted in the same result being repeated twice in a row: a black-green success, two granatas and a draw in the partial. After the victory in the first leg (2-1, 6 November 2023), Torino could beat Sassuolo in both seasonal matches for the first time since 2013/14, the year of the debut in the top flight for the black and green club. Seven of the 10 matches at the Mapei Stadium in Serie A between Sassuolo (1W) and Torino (2W) ended in a draw, including the most recent (1-1, 3 April 2023); furthermore, these 10 matches saw a total of only eight goals scored in the first half, an average of 0.8 in the first half per match. In a ranking that only considers the first halves, Sassuolo would be seventh in this championship with 33 points; in the second half, in fact, the neroverdi scored only 11 goals (more than only Empoli with nine and Turin with 10) and conceded 24 goals (only less than Salernitana with 25). Torino conceded only 19 goals and collected 11 clean sheets after 22 matches played in a Serie A season, both of these two events had not occurred in the Granata club since 1992/93, when the Piedmontese had as many clean sheets and 17 goals conceded in this point of the tournament.

👉 Lineup Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Consigli; Pedersen, Erlic, Viti, Doig; Lipani, Matheus Henrique; Bajrami, Thorstvedt; Laurientè; Pinamonti.

👉 Lineup Torino (3-4-1-2): Milinkovic Savic; Djidji, Lovato, Rodriguez; Bellanova, Tameze, Ilic, Lazaro; Vlasic; Sanabria, Zapata.
