🏆👉 France dominated and convincingly won the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 defeating Poland on Sunday 4 December 2022 at the Al Thumama Stadium in Al Thumama, Qatar. Practically, France easily gets rid of Poland and got their pass to the Quarterfinals to face the winner of the challenge between England and Senegal. France, after finishing the first half ahead by a goal thanks to Olivier Giroud, spread on the counterattack in the second half with Kylian Mbappé, able to exploit the large spaces allowed by the Polish formation and score a sumptuous brace that ends the match prematurely. In fact, the goal from the penalty spot scored by Poland captain Robert Lewandowski just seconds from the end of the match was useless. This is the second meeting between France and Poland at the World Cup: the previous one dates back to the third-place play-off in the 1982 tournament – a 3-2 win for Poland.
The highlight of the game is with AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud became France’s top goal scorer in Les Bleus’ history with 52 goals. Giroud at 36 years and 2 months is the oldest scorer in the knockout stage of a FIFA World Cup since Roger Milla, who scored twice against Colombia at the age of 38 in 1990. Well done!
