HISTORIC MOMENT. Milan-Palermo 2-1. Season 2005/06. Round 8. The relief as Filippo Inzaghi embraced his coach Carlo Ancelotti after he scored the winning goal on 78 minutes sums up the difficulties the rossoneri faced against Palermo that day who made Milan work hard for the 3 points. The Sicilians, coached by Del Neri at the time, took the lead on 28 minutes through Caracciolo. However, Gattuso made sure that Palermo’s lead didn’t last long and equalised one minute later with a splendid left foot lob. The match seemed to be heading for a draw until Inzaghi popped up to score the winner with just over 10 minutes left to play. Inzaghi’s winner gave the rossoneri 3 precious points which were also vital to the team’s morale.
