CHARITY GOLF CHALLENGE
MILAN – The Milan Foundation Charity Golf Challenge, now in its 10th edition, is now underway. First Team coach Filippo Inzaghi and club captain Riccardo Montolivo both actively took part at the launch on the 5th of September and tested each other in a special golf competition out on the central pitch at the Milanello Sports Centre. The 2014 Golf Challenge gets in full swing with its two stages on the 8th and the 16th of September at the Villa d’Este and Bogogno golfing greens. There has also been a brand new initiative introduced to this year’s edition in the form of a networking day whereby sponsors can share ideas and projects at the Milanello Club House. In addition, the AC Milan management, players from the first team and representatives from the Milan Glorie and VIPs from the sporting and show-business world will all be featuring either on the golfing greens or at the award ceremonies in the later stages of the Golf Challenge. The competition will be played over 36 holes (18 in the first stage and 18 in the second stage) and with the Stableford scoring system with a chance for every team to discard the worst result of each stage. There will also be an individual ranking list over 18 holes played. The Milan Foundation Charity Golf Challenge is an important event for many companies and passionate golfers, who through the sport, wish to support the projects of the Milan Foundation. In fact since 2003 the golf tournaments organised by the rossonero charity have allowed over 1 million euros to be put aside for different social projects in Italy and abroad. All the takings from the 2014 edition will go to the “Scuola Bottega” project that is being carried out in collaboration with the Associazione La Strada di Milano. The project is focused on combining school and work and thanks to Milan’s contribution it is enriched by sporting activities at the Vismara Sports Centre- the home to the Milan Youth Sector. It is aimed at Italian and foreign children from the ages of 13 through to and including 17 that haven’t obtained any formal high-school qualifications and that have stopped or abandoned school and are in need of a personalised support to take the exams. The project puts into effect the mission of the Milan Foundation: to act in Italy and abroad for a positive social impact, using the potential and values of sport to fight the most pressing social problems and support the development of people, in particular from the latest generation. “The objective of the Milan Foundation is to become an increasingly present protagonist in the development of projects that have a real positive impact on the collective.”– Rocco Giorgianni, General Secretary of the Milan Foundation. “We believe that sport can contribute in a decisive manner to the growth and development of the latest generation, above all young people in difficult conditions.”
PRESENT A PROJECT
The Milan Foundation believes that sport favours the growth and development of the individual, allowing them to play an important role and contribute to the prosperity of society as a whole. For this reason, the Milan Foundation is looking to support three projects for the year 2015 that using the potential and values of sport, offer definitive and long term solutions to the most pressing social problems. In particular, it wants to support initiatives aimed at children and teenagers up until the age 18 who are considered to be at risk of social exclusion because of difficult circumstances of which: fragile family relations, poverty, cultural differences, physical and mental disabilities. The projects will have to be presented along with all the necessary documentation within the 30th of September 2014. For more information please contact the following address: fondazione@acmilan.it
