Here are the declarations of Juventus forward Alvaro Morata after eliminating Real Madrid on May 13 with the aggregate result 2-3  and qualifying to the Champions League Final to be played on June 6 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.   Morata is a hero for Juventus because he scored the only goal of the match, but for Real Madrid fans is just a nightmare being himself an ex-Real Madrid player.

It’s a special game for Morata.  A mixed feeling after seeing his goal eliminating his ex team Real Madrid.   Special words after the game by Captain Gianluigi Buffon praising him as a star of the future.Morata commenting on Buffon’s words:  “Gigi’s words are a great honour, he’s a legend to me. When we played against each other last year in the Champions League, I ran after him to get his shirt.”

Regarding the match, Morata adding:  “I’m delighted and would like to thank the fans, who were here in their droves. We’ll do everything to lift the cup.”

Having decided the tie with a goal in either leg, Morata’s focus has now shifted to the final in Berlin: “It’ll be a tough match, but we can do it together.

“I grew up here in Madrid so I was never going to celebrate against Real. I heard the odd whistle when I left the field and that made me feel bad. I was just doing my job.”

Claudio Marchisio: “Not content with winning a fourth straight Scudetto, not content with a place in the Champions League final, Il Principino’s hunger for success is insatiable. In true Juve style.”

Marchisio giving priorities by order:  “Our number one target at the moment is the Coppa Italia. After that we can start thinking about the Champions League,”

So as Juventini across the globe were rushing out onto the streets to celebrate having a Champions League final to look forward to, Claudio was keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

UEFA Champions League ticketsAsked about a fan poll which showed Bianconeri supporters are confident of victory in Berlin, he replied thus: “It’s nice to know the fans are optimistic, but let’s live in the now for a bit. We’ve pulled off a great win against a top team. There’ll be time to think about the final further down the line.

Marchisio referring to the Champions League experience,  “The belief we have in ourselves now is something we’ve acquired gradually, starting from the group stage. It wasn’t easy. We lost two games but afterwards we grew in stature and we showed how far we had come in Dortmund.  Now we have tonight’s victory. We’ve improved a lot and have seen the results this season.”

#RealJuve, the statistics

Following a 1-1 second-leg draw away at Real Madrid, the Bianconeri progress 3-2 on aggregate and reach their first Champions League final for 12 years

Juventus progressed to their first Champions League final in 12 years, and eighth overall, following a 3-2 aggregate triumph over Real Madrid.

The Bianconeri approached yesterday evening’s game in Spain with a 2-1 first-leg lead, but soon saw the tie swing in Los Blancos’ favour after Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty for his tenth goal of the season in Europe’s elite competition.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men rallied in the second half and got their reward when Alvaro Morata, making his first appearance back at the Santiago Bernabeu since swapping Madrid for Turin last summer, equalised by firing in his fourth Champions League goal in six appearances.

And that’s how it finished as the Old Lady set up a final date in Berlin with Barcelona on Saturday 6 June, a side whom they haven’t faced since 2002/03’s Champions League quarter-final.

More of the numbers behind Wednesday’s result can be found below:

Evra: “You don’t reach the final by chance”

Been there, seen it, done it. Now Patrice has done it again. With Juve.

It’s no secret that Patrice Evra was signed last summer because of the wealth of experience he offers. A man who is used to going all the way could only aid the Juve cause as they bid to climb to the top of the European pile, after dominating in Italy for three years running.

And of course that’s exactly what he did. The 33-year-old played his part as the Bianconeri reached the Champions League final in his first season at the club. Now he’s set to grace the highest stage for the fifth time in his career.

“I don’t think it happens by chance. Don’t call me arrogant but every time I play in this competition I think I can reach the final. I really like playing in the Champions League: the atmosphere brings the best out of me.”

What was the secret behind tonight’s result? “We knew we’d have to soak up pressure and the gaffer made sure we were ready for it. He filled us with belief that we could score at least one goal.”

Looking ahead to the final on 6 June, the Frenchman ended with a culinary metaphor: “Allegri draws up a different menu every time. Now I can’t wait to see what he puts on the menu for Barcelona.”
