Hello my friends! Here are the Serie A Week 7 Results played on Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October 2017.  The race for the Scudetto is now a three-way race between Napoli, Juventus, and Inter.   The Serie A will take a pause  due to the International break for the World Cup qualifiers.  Serie A Week 8 will resume on Sat, 14 Oct 2017.

Napoli rocking big time winning all their 7 games commanding the Serie A in the first position with 21 points and a positive goal difference of +20.   A great performance by Napoli at the San Paolo Stadium defeating Cagliari. Napoli 3 – 0 Cagliari.  Simply put, Napoli is the sole leader of the Serie A being the only team winning all 7 games!

Juventus losing their perfect winning score after the 2-2 draw with Atalanta.  Juventus will remain in the second position with 19 points while Inter also with 19 points remain in the 3rd position.

Lazio with a superb victory crushing Sassuolo at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium. Lazio 6 – 1 Sassuolo.  Lazio is in the 4th position with 16 points just -5 points below Napoli.

Benevento, promoted from Serie B, losing their 7the consecutive games.  Inter defeated Benevento with a 1-2.    Hellas Verona, Genoa, and Benevento are the three teams without winning a game this season.

The top scorer of the Serie A Up to Week 7: Juventus forward Paulo Dybala with 10 goals.

A blow for Juventus!   Atalanta stopping Juventus’ winning path after battling to get a draw.  Juventus had won their first 6 games, but today, Atalanta said no more.  Incredible so, Juventus who were leading with a 2-0 ended up with a 2-2 draw.   It means that Napoli is now the only team winning all 7 games and being the sole leader of the Serie A with 21 points followed by Juventus and Inter with 19 points each.  Atalanta went down to the 11th position with 9 points.

The sour note is for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala failing to convert the penalty which would have given Juve the victory.   Brilliant save by Atalanta goalkeeper Berisha.  A highlight of the match is also the record by defender Giorgio Chiellini becoming the 10th longest serving Juventus player with 441 appearances.

Juventus opening the score in the 21st minute. A special goal because Federico Bernardeschi scores his first goal as a Juventus player. Bernardeschi defeating Atalanta goalkeeper Etrit Berisha from close range with a left footed shot in the bottom left corner.  Superb.

In the 24th minute, there it is forward Higuaín delighting the fans after delivering a left footed shot with assist by Bernardeschi. Way to go for Bernardeschi not only scoring a goal, but also providing the assist for Higuaín’s goal.

Atalanta shortening the distance in the 31st minute. Defender Mattia Caldara defeating Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon from close range with a right footed shot in the bottom right corner.

Atalanta equalizing for the 2-2 in the 67th minute. It is midfielder Bryan Cristante to defeat Buffon with a headed shot in the top left corner. The assist is by Alejandro Gomez with a cross.

25 called up for FYR Macedonia and Albania matches as Simone Verdi returns

Second place needs to be made secure in Group G and the current ranking of 17th has to be improved so that Italy can be in the best position possible ahead of the play-off draw on 17th October in Zurich. This is the dual aim for Italy ahead of the reaming qualifiers with FYR Macedonia on 6th October at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino in Turin at 20:45 and Albania at the Loro Borici Stadium in Shkoder at 20:45 CEST on 9th October.

Gian Piero Ventura has named 25 players in his Azzurri squad. They will arrive at Coverciano tomorrow evening. Simone Verdi is back after he made his debut against the Netherlands on 28th March.

Italy vs. FYR Macedonia – Italy are in Turin for the 37th time, one year since the 1-1 draw with Spain there in October although this time they are moving from the Juventus Stadium to the Stadio Olimpico – Grande Torino where the most recent result was a 2-0 win over Bulgaria in 2009. The capital of Piedmont will host a number of initiatives prior to the match organised by the FIGC and the local council as part of the Città Azzurra scheme. This aims to involve Italy fans, promote the positive values of sport and grassroots football. The team will also stay in Turin to prepare for the away trip to Shkodër and there will also be a training session at the Stadio Filadelfia where the legend of the Grande Torino was written.

Albania vs. Italy – The Azzurri’s final match wil be in Shkodër for a historic match. It’s the 800th Italy match in history and it will also be the first match played in Albania after two meetings in Italy in recent years. A familiar face for Italian football and the national team will be on the opposite side as Christian Panucci took over in July as Albania coach from Gianni De Biasi. It will be the 14th time that Italy have faced an opponent led by an Italian after Foni (Switzerland, two times), Trapattoni (Republic of Ireland, four times), Ghedin (Malta, four times), Zaccheroni, once) and De Biasi, twice). During his career, Panucci played for Italy 57 times, scored four goals and won two Under-21 European Championships.

Squad

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Gianluigi Donnarumma (Milan), Mattia Perin (Genoa);
Defenders: Davide Astori (Fiorentina), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Milan), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Danilo D’Ambrosio (Inter), Matteo Darmian (Manchester United), Daniele Rugani (Juventus), Leonardo Spinazzola (Atalanta), Davide Zappacosta (Chelsea);
