OlympiacosOlympiacos 3 – 0 AC Milan AC Milan
16′ Alejandro Dominguez
49′ Dimitris Diamantakos
78′ Andreas Bouchalakis

AC Milan making their debut in the Guinness International Champions Cup wit a defeat against Greek league team Olympiacos on Thursday 24 July 2014 at the BMO Field  Stadium in New York.   AC Milan coach  Filippo Inzaghi suffering  his first defeat as coach with Milan in International competition.  Surely, not the ideal  result not only for the team, but neither for the AC Milan fans in the United States who went to see  the game looking for a  revival.     Olympiacos scoring three goals by  Alejandro  Dominguez, Dimitris Diamantakos and Andreas Bouchalakis.

Fans expecting to see forward Mario Balotelli playing who was in the tribune watching the game.  The chant for “We want Balo” went blank, but  appreciated by Balotelli.    Simply put, AC Milan  forwards Giampaolo Pazzini and Stephan El Shaarawy were unable to pull Milan bandwagon.  Something still not working with this Milan.  Let’s not panic and keep faith to see a better team in the next game against Manchester City on Sunday 27 July.  Will Milan end this negative nightmare?

AC Milan Olympiacos are in Group B along Premier League teams Manchester City and Liverpool.

Here is the thing.  The game went down hill since the 16th minute when Alejandro Dominguez unmarked opened the score accommodating the ball with his chest to then deliver a right footed shot defeating AC Milan goalkeeper Gabriel in the left corner and leaving him on the ground.  The right footed  assist by Mathieu Dossevi.

Far from AC Milan reacting, it is Olympiacos again to increase the score.  In the 49th minute a left footed shot from the distance by Diamantakos who got the pass from Masuaku.  AC Milan goalkeeper Gabriel  not even enough time to react, but just turned his head to observe the ball going inside the net in the left corner.

AC Milan coach making 3 substitutions replacing goalkeeper Gabriel in the 62nd minute with goalkeeper Agazzi, replacing defender Daniele Bonera with defender Philippe Mexes, and replacing  defender Adil Rami with Alex.

In the 76th minute, AC Milan making 2 more changes.  Midfielder Andrea Poli is replaced by Mastalli and forward Keisuke Honda takes the place of Niang.

In the 78th minute, another slap!  There comes the goal by Bouchalakis with a left footed shot from about 40 meters defeating AC Milan goalkeeper Agazzi in the top right corner.

Changes did not work for Inzaghi…

It’s clear that at this point, Inzaghi still need to find his ideal squad and rebuild the winner mentality of the great AC Milan.  Will he do it before the Serie A kickoff? That’s the question.

The International Champions Cup is set!  Manchester United started their USA tour with a victory by winning the Chevrolet Cup. with an astonishing  result  7-0  against Los Angeles Galaxy  on Wednesday 23 July 2014 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.    This game was like a training for Manchester United who are playing against AS Roma this Saturday 26 July and on Tuesday 29 July against Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup.

I asked Coach Louis Van Gaal at the Press Conference about the upcoming games against AS Roma and Inter on whether he was familiar with their playing style.  LVG saying, “They are very good teams and probably better than LA Galaxy. We will analyze the teams.”  Van Gaal emphasizing that both Roma and Inter have very good players, but do not fear them.

You bet  it will be a special match against Inter because their ex captain  Nemanja Vidic transferred to Inter Milan in July.   Vidic played for Manchester United from 2006 until 2014 making 211 appearances and scoring 15 goals.

On tactics, now, we will see whether Van Gaal will continue with his  trademark 3-5-2 system against AS Roma and Inter.

It’s a special day for AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi, Staff, and players visiting the New York Cosmos Pitch on Wednesday 23 July for their training session.  AC Milan are preparing their debut game in the International Champions Cup against Olympiacos on 24 July, Manchester City on 27 July, and against Liverpool on 2 August 2014.

As reported by AC Milan official website, Milan’s first training session on North American primarily focusing initially on athletic work, with the players of the famed US team. The two squads completed the warm-up and stretching together.

Players then moved on to 11-versus-11 possession work with the ball, using one half of the NY Cosmos pitch.

Keisuke Honda, Sulley Muntari, Essien, Mario Balotelli and Ignazio Abate worked individually on stretching and floor work, as scheduled.

Manchester United crushing, demolishing, humiliating Major League Soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy with a mega goleada 7 – 0 on Wednesday 23 July 2014.  Manchester United winning the Chevrolet Cup with an undisputed result not even giving a chance to  LA Galaxy to score the so-called honor goal.    I was carefully observing the game at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California because Man U will play against AS Roma this Saturday 26 July and on Tuesday 29 July against Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup.

Game attendance reaching 86,432, mostly Manchester United fans.  Red color just about everywhere.

As I was saying, its a mega smacking goleada, what a way to lose and what a way to win!!! LA Galaxy just under a mental block never finding the way out, not even Captain Landon Donovan saving the team. Donovan started as a sub.  Simply put, it was raining goal after goal  and LA Galaxy not having an umbrella …  a total torment called Manchester United.

One question, Did Bruce Arena study Manchester United????? You bet Manchester United Coach Louis Van Gaal did his homework and got a top result with flying colors.
