VERONA – As the players wound down after a tough match, Danilo D’Ambrosio found a spare moment to give his opinion on the Inter win: “The team needs confidence and that’s something you can only get with time. We’re working hard to prepare for matches in the best way possible and we’re putting Mancini’s ideas into practice.

“It’s always tough to get three points in Serie A and that was no different today. It was a demanding match, both physically and mentally, but it was vital to get the win and that’s exactly what we did.

“We’re aiming for third spot because we’re Inter and we need to aim high. Winning is always important but we need to capitalise on this by getting a good result on Sunday. We must put together a winning run – getting the three points today will mean nothing if we now go and lose to Lazio,” explained D’Ambrosio.

The Inter defender was also asked about Inter’s next opponents in the Europa League, Celtic: “Every match is different. It’ll certainly be a tough one, and we’ll need to have 100% concentration because we really want to do well in the Europa League.

“There are more matches in the league, so if you slip up you have a chance to put that right next time out. That’s not the case in European competition so it’s more difficult from that perspective,” concluded the Italian.

Ranocchia: “Great performance tonight”

VERONA – Fresh from captaining his side to an important victory at the Stadio Bentegodi, Andrea Ranocchia found time to give us his take on the match. And where else to start but with the Inter captain’s fine goal: “Yes, it was a good one! And with my left, too…,” he says with a smile.

“I’m really pleased. It was a vital match tonight and one that gives us confidence moving forward. We put in a great performance tonight. It was important to win because some of the teams ahead of us have started to falter.

“We’ve been working hard on playing with a back four this week. We wanted to hold a high line because that’s fundamental to our style of play. All the players pulled together to ensure we got this win,” declared the Nerazzurri captain.
