Here are the 2023-2024 Italian Serie A Week 23 RESULTS / Twenty-third Round on Friday 2, Saturday 3, Sunday 4, and Monday 5 February 2024.  This is a special round because the Derby of Italy between Inter and Juventus is a direct clash for the leadership.  Inter won the Derby d’Italia and are in the lead with 57 points havind an advantage of +4 points over Juventus in the second position with 53 points.  Inter also have a game to recover. It is a fact that Inter are the one ruling this season up to Week 23. Inter regained the top spot after defeating Fiorentina with 54 points. It is the “iconic Toro Bull” Argentinean Lautaro Martinez to score the only goal of the match to claim the full 3 points.

Juventus stepped down to the second place with 53 points after their 1-1 draw against Empoli.  The first half saw the direct expulsion of Milik for a harsh challenge on Cerri. In the second half, Vlahovic finds the goal in front of goal, but Baldanzi freezes the Stadium with a shot from the edge of the area. Coach Davide Nicola continues his treatment, 4 points in two games, and Empoli is just one point behind Cagliari, now fourth from last.

AC Milan failed to claim the home victory ending with a draw. A brace from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and two penalties conceded by Referee Davide Massa and missed by Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez were not enough. Bologna snatched a point thanks to Zirkzee and a penalty from Orsolini in full injury time – awarded by VAR for a hold by the debutant Terracciano on Kristansen.

Atalanta’s overtaking mission is done after defeating Udinese. Temporarily, Atalanta are within the European zone after having achieved the fourth victory in the five matches played in 2024. Third defeat in the last four matches, however, for Udinese who thus remain just one point ahead of the relegation zone, in which they risk ending up.

The favorable moment continues for Genoa with their second consecutive victory, after the one in Salerno. Lecce, on the other hand, is suffering its third consecutive defeat and is unable to emerge from this negative period. Lecce first missed a penalty with Nikola Krstovic saved by goalkeeper Joseph Martinez. The redemption moment arrived for Krstovic scoring later the opening goal.

The pressure increased for Napoli who are out of the European zone. Lazio and Napoli ended with a goalless draw. One point for each team failed to get closer to the fourth place occupied by Atalanta. Lazio interrupted their streak of four consecutive victories in the league and moved within two points of the Champions League zone, while Mazzarri’s team catches up with Roma on 32 points, but remains in ninth place in the standings.
