Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
AS Roma, 5th position with 44 points and a positive goal difference of +11
Cremonese, 20th position with 9 points and a negative goal difference of -25

What a thriller!  The unthinkable happened. Cremonese who were in the last position defeated AS Roma on Tuesday 28 February 2023 at the Giovanni Zini Stadium in Cremona, Italy. Cremonese have reasons to celebrate enjoying the feeling of a victory in Serie A after 26 years. The last victory in Serie A was on March 31, 1996 (Padova 1-3Cremonese).  This is the first victory of the season for Cremonese, and what a prestigious win,  striking an important blow in terms of salvation. Spezia with eight points but last place left to Sampdoria. Rome suffered the physicality of the opponent and struggled to create goals. Spinazzola’s goal was good, but there were few other real dangers for Carnesecchi. Advantage of Tsadjout, the equalizer of Spinazzola, to decide the penalty scored by Ciofani after the foul by Rui Patricio on Okereke.

Cremonese climbed from the 20th to the 19th position with 12 points.  Sampdoria are now in the last position with 11 points.

It took 24 games, a little under seven months and endless heartbreak for Cremonese to FINALLY get their first Serie A win of the season. 👏
