Here are the declarations of Juventus Coach Antonio Conte after
losing the Coppa Italia Quarterfinals and being eliminated on Tuesday 21 January 2014 at the
Olimpico di Roma Stadium: AS Roma 1 – 0 Juventus

As reported by Juventus official website,  Antonio Conte was in philosophical mood after witnessing his team
narrowly edged out in this evening’s closely-fought Coppa Italia
quarter-final against Roma in the capital.

The 44-year-old explained his decision to send out a changed
line-up at the Stadio Olimpico and insists he is satisfied with how
those who stepped into the breach fared in a testing atmosphere.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the final whistle, Conte began:
“I thought it was a very evenly matched encounter between two teams who
are both going strongly in the league. It could have gone either way.”

“We’ve always used the Coppa Italia as the opportunity to rotate
the side ahead of upcoming fixtures because everyone needs to develop
and feel important. I was happy with the performances of those who have
played less this season.”

The match-winning goal, scored by Gervinho on 79 minutes, arrived
when Juventus were in the ascendency and looking to silence the home
crowd with a late strike.

And aside from the inevitable disappointment of exiting a
competition at the quarter-final stages, Conte insists he is unable to
point the finger at any of his players for tonight’s showing.

“Roma scored during our best spell of the game. We wanted to keep
it tight in defence and cause danger when in possession. Perhaps we were
a little cagey in the first half, but I don’t recall any particular
moments of us being under the cosh. It’s a pity we’ve been eliminated
from a competition, but I’ve got nothing to criticise the lads for.”

Here are the declarations of Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli after losing the Coppa Italia Quarterfinals on Tuesday 21 January 2014 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium: AS Roma 1 – 0 Juventus

As reported by Juventus official website, Andrea Barzagli has described his disappointment at tonight’s
narrow 1-0 Coppa Italia loss to Roma in the capital, but believes that
the defeat will make the team even stronger as the campaign progresses.

The defender produced another able performance this evening in
keeping the Giallorossi at arm’s length for large periods – Gervinho’s
79th-minute winner was the game’s first shot on target – and in the end
the side ended up frustrated because of that single moment.

Speaking after the final whistle, the 32-year-old commented: “We
made one mistake. It was a very tight game, we didn’t allow them many
chances but we didn’t create much ourselves either. It’s a shame that
their goal came 10 minutes from the end because we didn’t have time to
make a comeback.

“We don’t like losing and it was one of our objectives for the season, so we’re disappointed with going out.”

Barzagli concluded by taking the positives from a lesson that will no doubt help the Bianconeri to improve for the future.

“The overall outlook remains more than positive. We’re doing very
well in Serie A and we’ve still got the Europa League to go for. Being
eliminated hurts, but it will also help us to grow and improve as a
team.”

Here are the declarations of AS Roma coach Rudi Garcia after defeating Juventus in the Coppa Italia Quarterfinal on Tuesday 21 January  2014 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium. AS Roma 1 – 0 Juventus

Garcia saying, “Tonight the team that tried hardest to advance reaped the rewards. We
played against a great team. They have a quality squad, but we played a
great game this evening and kept the ball in the first half. Then in the
second half we waited for them and used quick counters to exploit the
space they left behind them.

“Miralem Pjanic the second half? He played a great ball to Strootman
before his cross found Gervinho at the near post. This evening I had
fantastic options on the bench. The plan was to let the team battle for
an hour and then send in Miralem, and thanks to his technique he
provided a lot of attacking quality to the team. He’s an essential
player for us, for the second half of the season, and also for next
year.

“Are we favorites to win the Coppa Italia? No, there are still many
strong teams and two tough semi-finals to be played both home and away.
If I had to choose an opponent between Napoli and Lazio? It’s all the
same to us. But we already have to start focusing on the Verona match.
We’ll go there looking to win.

“Today’s was a Coppa Italia game, but one between the top two teams in
the league. That means the game mattered for all of Italy. We saw a Roma
side with personality and one that was assertive right away, as we had
already seen in Turin. We were intelligent tonight and struck at the
right moment.

“In the league we lost on three dead-ball situations. That means that,
when it comes to our play on the field, we did well in the end. My team
always has a strategy and tries to move forward with it, but it’s not
always so simple. Tonight it worked really well.

“The transfer market? This isn’t the moment to discuss it. Let’s focus
on the great game we played tonight, which our fans and the entire
country had been waiting for. Best of all, we saw a full Stadio
Olimpico. This is football, when you see great games in an atmosphere
like this one. We want to thank our fans who gave their all out there
cheering for their team. I think they must be proud of their boys
tonight.

“Did I expect to see Roma like this at the beginning of the season?
We’ve done our work well, because we see how competitive we are.
Juventus are a great team. They won the Scudetto the last two seasons,
but I didn’t expect to see them with 55 points after 20 matches. Our
path has been exceptional and we have 47 points, but they’re doing
things even better. This evening we showed we have the talent and the
possibility to win against one of the best teams in Italy. We can’t let
up now. Will I remain here for next season too? I’m a Romanista 100%.”

Coppa Italia Standing AFTER the game:

What a revenge!  AS Roma not only defeat Juventus, but also eliminate them of the Coppa Italia.   AS Roma will play the Coppa Italia Semifinal against the winner of the match Napoli – Lazio.  Certainly, AS Roma coach Rudi Garcia is more than satisfied  to avenge their defeat in Serie A on January 5: Juventus 3 – 0 AS Roma.
 
Roma fans  acclaiming their players, especially Gervinho the author of the winner goal.  It is in the 79th minute when the whole action started with midfielder Miralem Pjanic making a super run to pass to  Kevin Strootman, then, Strootman with a cross to Gervinho  and without hesitating smacks a back heel shot on the air.
 
Juventus coach Antonio Conte maybe made his substitutions too late.  In the 77th minute Conte replaced forward Sebastian Giovinco bringing forward Fernando Llorente.  In the 81st minute, forward Carlos Tevez replaces defender Federico Peluso.  It seems the “big guys” arrived too late to make the difference.   Something to regret?….  up to Conte to digest the elimination.
