Hello my friends. Here are the results of the Serie A Week 33 – Thirty-third Round on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April 2016.  We have only 5 more games to end the Serie A on 15 May with 15 points available. Mathematically speaking, the Scudetto is still open for Juventus and Napoli.  However, Juventus with 79 points having a wide advantage of +9 points above Napoli remaining with 70 points.

It’s almost “a done deal” for Juventus seeing their chances to collect the 5th consecutive Scudetto closer.  Juventus destroying Palermo with a mega goleada at the Juventus Stadium with a 4 – 0.   Palermo in total despair seeing their future a living nightmare falling even to the 19th position and relegation to Serie B …. close….  Terrible re-debut for Palermo coach Davide Ballardini.  The sour news for Juventus is that midfielder Claudio Marchisio suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament during the game and had to be substituted in the 16th minute by midfielder Mario Lemina.   Marchisio’s season is over and most likely will miss being part of the Italian National team in the upcoming Euro 2016.

Napoli wasted a golden moment after losing the match against Inter at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.  It’s a fact that forward Gonzalo Higuain is a key player for Napoli and without him (still suspended) the victory period disappearing.  It’s good news for Inter because they are now in the 4th position.   Fiorentina remaining in the 5th position with 59 points after defeating Sassuolo at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.   Inter gaining mometum and chances  to grab the 3rd position not impossible.   Inter with 61 points are now only -4 points below Roma with 65 points.

Highlight in this round is to see Italian icon forward Francesco Totti embraced by the fans at the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia Stadium.  Few Roma fans at the Stadium though applauding the legendary Captain.   Totti starting as a substitute replaced midfielder Daniele De Rossi in the 78th minute.   Few minutes later, Totti equalizing the score in the 85th minute for the final 3-3.

AC Milan coach Cristian Brocchi making his debut with a victory at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.   Brocchi replacing former coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.   Milan battling to gain points to avoid falling below the 6th position and dream with a post in Europe next year… at least in Europa League.  Game ending with protests and Sampdoria fans whistling……   Sampdoria 0 –  1 AC Milan, the goal by Colombian forward Carlos Bacca.

As for relegation the good news is for Carpi!   Yep, Carpi, mathematically speaking, is saved to remain in Serie A next season after defeating Genoa with a 4-1 result!   Carpi were promoted from Serie B this season and the dream continues for another season.  Way to go for Carpi.  Bad news is for Hellas Verona with “a reserved ticket” to be relegated to Serie B remaining in the 20th position.   Verona losing the home game at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium defeated by Frosinone also battling for salvation.

The top scorer up to Round 33: Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain with 30 goals

Carpi responding to the urgent wake up call towards salvation.   Mathematically speaking, the victory was needed for Carpi to keep up the race for salvation.   Mission accomplished this victory securing Carpi  to remain in Serie A next season.   There are no precedents between Carpi vs Genoa at the Alberto Braglia Stadium in Serie A. Carpi were promoted from Serie B this season.

It’s Genoa to open the score in the 34th minute with forward Leonardo Pavoletti defeating Carpi goalkeeper Vid Belec with a left footed shot in the top left corner.   The assist is by midfielder Blerim Dzemaili.

Problems for Genoa just before ending the first half.   Referee Rizzoli giving a second yellow card to defender Armando Izzo after a foul on Carpi defender Gaetano Letizia in the 45th minute.  Genoa remaining with 10 players.

Carpi with one player in advantage profiting and equalize the score in the 45th minute.   It’s midfielder Antonio Di Gaudio to score defeating Genoa goalkeeper Eugenio Lamanna with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.   The assist is by forward Jerry Mbakogu.  Great move for Genoa not wasting chances for goal  because the first attempt was by forward Alessio Cerci though missing his left footed shot to the left…. Di Gaudio having a better shot and scores….

Suddenly amnesia for Genoa defenseeeeeeeee….  in extra time still in the first half and in less than 2 minutes there you go another goal to take the lead!   Yep, Carpi overturning the result and after losing, now they are leading.   It’s forward  Lorenzo Lollo to smack a left footed shot in the center.  The assist is by midfielder Lorenzo Pasciuti with a cross.   Carpi players celebrating while encouraged by the fans to keep battling.

In the second half, Carpi securing the match with another goal.  In the 49th minute, Pasciuti now scoring defeating goalkeeper Lamanna with a left footed shot in the bottom left corner.   The assisted is by Antonio Di Gaudio.   Way to go….   Pasciuti and Di Gaudio providing assists and goals.   Motivation is high for Carpi.

Curtain call…. Genoa falling and Carpi totally inspired.   In the 86th minute, the poker for Carpi.   It’s defender Stefano Sabelli  to score with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.   The party is on for Carpi fans.

Hello my friends. Here are the results of the Serie A Week 32 – Thirty-second Round on Saturday 9, Sunday 10, and Monday 11 April 2016.  We have only 6 more games to end the Serie A on 15 May with 18 points available.  Mathematically speaking, the Scudetto is still open for Juventus and Napoli

It’s a chaotic round for some teams, but also a good one for others.  A super week for Juventus seeing the “5th Consecutive Scudetto” almost a reality after defeating AC Milan at the San Siro Stadium.   Juventus is the absolute leader of the Serie A reaching now 76 points and a positive goal difference of +41.   Juventus having a lead of +6 points above Napoli holding the second position with 70 points and a positive goal difference of +39 after defeating Hellas Verona at the San Paolo Stadium.    AC Milan now risk failing the season on their quest to reach  the 3rd position.  Milan remain in the 6th position with 49 points and AS Roma holding the 3rd position have 63 points.

Bad news is for Fiorentina because not only they lost the Tuscan Derby against Empoli, but also lost the 4th position going down to the 5th position.   Good news is for Inter because after defeating Frosinone, Inter jumped from the 5th to the 4th position reaching now 58 points and Fiorentina remaining with 56 points.    Inter defeated Frosinone thanks to the goal by forward Mauro Icardi who celebrated his 100th game as an Inter player and scoring his 500th goal for Inter.

The super outcome is for the awaited debut of Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi.  Yep, Lazio crushed Palermo at the Renzo Barbera Stadium with a 0-3.   The atmosphere so tense that some Palermo fans protested consistently forcing Referee Gervasoni to even stop the match twice.      Palermo risking to be relegated to the Serie B remaining in the 18th position with 28 points.  Pressure is high for Palermo because they will play the away game against Juventus next week at the Juventus Stadium.  On paper, Juventus favorite to win, but we cannot rule out Palermo yet.

AS Roma vs Bologna ending with a 1-1 draw.   It’s just a disappointment for Roma who were playing the home game at the Olimpico looking to win the match to claim the full 3 points.  Yet, the outcome is divided 1 point each.   Roma reaching 64 points are -6 points below Napoli.

The top scorer up to Round 32: Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain with 30 goals
