The Club Cagliari Calcio defined a series of initiatives at the Unipol Domus to honor the memory of Gigi Riva on Friday 26 January 2024 for the Serie A Week 22 game Cagliari vs Torino at 20:45.
✅ The usual playlist will be replaced by a musical selection dedicated to Riva and the historical period in which he was a footballer. His name and number 11 will be announced when the lineups are read out, the stadium’s giant screen will broadcast a commemorative video with the goals and exploits of Rombo di Tuono.
✅ In the warm-up the team will take to the field wearing a shirt inspired by that of the 1970 Scudetto. The game shirt used in the match will be the white 23/24 one in a special celebratory version: in agreement with the “Jersey Partners” (Sardinia – ISLAND of ‘Artigianato, Moby, Ichnusa and Arborea) will not have their respective logos applied to make room for the iconic 11, positioned on the chest with a dedicated patch. The same shirt will be worn by all children who accompany the two teams and the match director when they enter the pitch. Cagliari will wear mourning on their arms.
✅ The Distinti sector will host a choreography created by the fans. The start of the match will be preceded by a minute’s silence, as per the FIGC’s instructions on the pitches of all the championships scheduled for the weekend. In some moments of the match, the LEDs on the sidelines and the giant screen will broadcast images and writings for the Legend.
