Conceiçao’s team struggled to create any chances in the second half and failed to respond effectively after the Bianconeri’s goals, making it a night to forget for the Rossoneri.
Bologna celebrated a fantastic victory today, bringing their total points to 33, while Monza remains in last place with 13 points. Mariani praised the thrilling match filled with goals, which ended in favor of the home team. Daniel Maldini opened the scoring just 4 minutes in, but Castro equalized in the 22nd minute. Odgaard then put Bologna ahead with a goal in the 34th minute. Lecce has not lost in their last six Serie A encounters with Cagliari, boasting two wins and four draws. The only time the Salento team has had a longer unbeaten streak in the top division was against Siena from 2004 to 2009, where they went seven matches without a loss. Following their 1-0 victory in the first leg on August 31, Lecce has the chance to achieve a double over Cagliari this season for the first time in Serie A history.
On the other hand, Cagliari has been strong at home against Lecce, remaining unbeaten in nine out of ten home matches (five wins and four draws), with the last two ending in draws. The last time Lecce managed to win away against Cagliari in this league was back on February 26, 2012, when they triumphed 2-1 at Sant’Elia under coach Serse Cosmi.
Recently, Cagliari has struggled at Unipol Domus, losing their last two league matches without scoring.
