Bologna won the Serie A Week 27 match on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy. Bologna secured a 2-1 victory over Cagliari, marking their second win in a row and their sixth consecutive triumph at home.
With this win, Bologna has moved ahead of Fiorentina, reaching 47 points in the league standings, now tied with fifth-placed Lazio, who are set to play against Milan tonight at San Siro. Meanwhile, Italiano’s squad is closing in on fourth-place Juventus, who are just two points ahead and will be facing Verona tomorrow. For Cagliari, this marks their second straight defeat and their third match without a win, leaving them with 25 points, just three points clear of the relegation zone.
Notably, in their last seven meetings in the top division, Bologna has triumphed in the first leg four times. Meanwhile, Cagliari has secured three wins in the return matches. Following their 2-0 victory in the first leg on October 29, Bologna aims to achieve a seasonal double over Cagliari for the third time in Serie A history, having previously done so in the 2013/14 and 1965/66 seasons.
Cagliari opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Roberto Piccoli found the net with a close-range header. The goal was set up by Tommaso Augello, who delivered a perfect cross after a quick counterattack.

Stats before the game
The last 14 encounters between Bologna and Cagliari in Serie A have shown a remarkable balance, with each team claiming five victories and four matches ending in a draw. Specifically, in their last seven top-flight meetings, Bologna has triumphed in the first leg four times, while Cagliari has secured three wins in the return matches. Following their 2-0 victory in the first leg on October 29, Bologna has the chance to achieve a seasonal double over Cagliari for the third time in Serie A history, previously accomplished in the 2013/14 and 1965/66 seasons.
Bologna have remained unbeaten in the last 11 home matches against Cagliari in Serie A (8W, 3D), winning all three of the most recent ones; the last Sardinian success at the Dall’Ara against the Emilians in the tournament dates back to 10 January 2010 (1-0 with a goal by Alessandro Matri, with Massimiliano Allegri as coach).
Since the start of 2025, Bologna have lost just one out of nine games played in Serie A (W4 D4) – only Roma are unbeaten in the period – and have scored 15 goals (like Napoli): less than only Atalanta and Roma (both 16) in this calendar year.
Bologna have won seven of their last nine home games in Serie A (D1 L1), including all of their last four; since the start of November, the rossoblù have been the team with the best home performance in the tournament: 22 points, two more than Inter.
Cagliari have not scored in their last two league games and in Serie A 2024/25 they have only once failed to score in three consecutive matches: between August and September.
