After the elimination in the Champions League, the Rossoneri now risk being overtaken by Inter. Expelled in the 95th minute Isaac Success for Udinese.
The Lantern Derby won by Sampdoria. The challenge is for Genoa to start earning points to dream with salvation while Sampdoria win the Serie A Week 17 game at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Sampdoria dragged by a super Manolo Gabbiadini returns to victory and does so on the most heartfelt occasion, the derby of the Lanterna arrived after difficult days and marked by the judicial events of the resigning President Massimo Ferrero as part of an investigation into corporate crimes and bankruptcy. Genoa sees 14 unsuccessful games, the last five with Andriy Shevchenko on the bench. Three heavy points also in terms of classification for the Sampdoria, who move away from the hottest area, reaching +8 on their city rivals.
Fiorentina winning in grand style the Serie A Week 17 game crushing Salernitana with a poker at the Artemio Franchi Stadium. Fiorentina have won all their last four home league games, always scoring at least three goals: the Viola have only three times achieved at least five domestic successes with 3+ goals scored in Serie A, in 1949 (five), in 1959 (nine) and in 1960 (five). Fiorentina reaching 30 points while Salernitana remain in the last position with just 8 points.
Venezia with a half mission accomplished with a draw against Juventus on Saturday 11 December 2021 at the Penzo Stadium in Venice, Italy. Juventus, on paper, favorites to win and needed the victory to climb the Standings. Yet, they failed. This draw is more like a victory for Venezia after being down. Paulo Dybala forced out due to injury after 12 minutes. Now for Juve – currently sixth in the standings – the race for the Champions League is again complicating considerably.
Surprise, surprise, Napoli losing the home game at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Empoli grabbing this important away victory. The defeat seeing Napoli stepping down from the 3rd to the 4th position.
Good news is for Atalanta climbing from the 4th to the 3rd position after winning the away game against Hellas Verona. Atalanta with 37 points are -2 points below AC Milan with 39 in the 2nd position and +1 point above Natalanta.
Torino with an important victory delighting their fans at the Olimpico defeating Bologna. Torino resists and wastes a clear opportunity in the 90th minute with Zaza pulling on Skorupski.
AS Roma win the Serie A Week 17 game defeating Spezia at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium. Roma needed the victory to climb towards the top 6 positions, and they made it! Spezia, with 12 points, remain in the 17th position risking to go down to the relegation zone. Roma climb above Juventus into sixth place in the Serie A standings both with 28 points but Roma with a better goal difference.
