Italian Soccer Serie A

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2019-2020 Serie A Week 23 PREVIEW / Twenty-third Round on Friday 7, Saturday 8, and Sunday 9 February 2020.

We might have a change in the leadership in this round.  Juventus  is currently the sole leader of the Serie A after defeating Fiorentina with a 3-0 at the Allianz Stadium reaching 54 points and a positive goal difference of +22.    Inter with 51 points might take the leadership if Juventus lose the game against Hellas Verona at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium.  Inter will have to win the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan at the San Siro Stadium.

Lazio with  50 points might take the 2nd position away from Inter if AC Milan win the Derby.  Lazio will have to defeat Parma at the Ennio Tardini Stadium.  Surely, this is a round not to miss.  On top of this, we have the debut of new coaches.  Brescia sacked Eugenio Corini and the new coach is Diego Lopez.    Brescia will play against Udinese at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti.

The other new coach is Moreno Longo replacing former coach Walter Mazzarri.   Longo will make his debut against Sampdoria at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium.

👉 Up to Serie A Week 22: There is a three-way race between Juventus (54), Inter (51), and Lazio (50)

⚽️ Serie A Top Scorer up to Week 22:
Lazio forward Ciro Immobile with 25 goals

Agudelo: "I’m living a dream"

Kevin Agudelo described his move to Fiorentina as a “dream” as he was formally unveiled as a Viola player in a press conference on Thursday.

“I’m living a dream,” he said. “I always wanted to play in Europe. It all happened very quickly but I feel so happy because this is a club that believes in my ability and is giving me an opportunity. I’m delighted and I hope to repay them for everything they’ve done for me with my performances on the pitch.”

Agudelo revealed he had no trouble in making the decision to leave Genoa for Fiorentina in the January transfer window.
“It was an easy decision,” he said. “I knew this was a massive club and there are some new ideas now – they want to grow and achieve big things. I had a bit of help from my partner and my wife. I’d never been to Florence but had heard some great things about the city. I’ve been able to see a bit of it and I loved it.”
The Colombian youngster also gave Fiorentina fans an idea of what to expect from him on the pitch.
“I’m a central midfielder and I think I have good attributes in both attack and defence,” he said. “When I’m needed in attack, I’ll be ready, and when I need to get stuck into defending I’ll do that too. I know I have a lot to learn and improve on, such as my passing game, where I still make a lot of mistakes. I know I can improve a lot on those things and learn from the experienced players here. I want to work as hard as possible to learn more every day and show the talent I have.”
Fiorentina face Atalanta on Saturday, meaning Agudelo could come up against fellow Colombians Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel.
“I’ll be coming up against two compatriots who are top players,” he said. “If I get the chance to play, they’ll be opponents. If I have to compete to win a ball I’ll put everything into it. We’ll be opponents for the 90 minutes.”

Igor: "I’ll give 100% for Fiorentina"

Igor Julio vowed to give his all for the Fiorentina cause as he was formally unveiled as a Viola player in a press conference on Wednesday.

“For as long as I’m here, I’ll give everything I have for this team in every training session and match,” said Julio, who joined from SPAL in the January transfer window. “I’m delighted to have been given the chance to play for a big Italian team like Fiorentina and I know I need to do my best throughout this experience.”
The Brazilian centre-back revealed he spoke to former SPAL team-mates Nenad Tomovic and Bryan Dabo before arriving in Florence.
“I spoke to Tomovic and Dabo because as a young player it’s always nice to get advice from more experienced players,” he said. “I got lots of information from them about the city of Florence and the team. They told me that this is a massive club with a big following, so I got a lot of advice about what my professional and personal life might be like here in Florence.”
Julio has already made his Fiorentina debut – as a starter in the defeat to Juventus on Sunday – with the new boy stressing the importance of seizing the opportunity with both hands.
“I need to make sure I’m always ready to play so I was when I was called upon against Juve,” he said. “I had lots of support from my team-mates and the coach, so I just tried to take the opportunity I’d been given.”
