Iachini: "We showed personality and created chances"

Beppe Iachini was full of praise for his Fiorentina side’s approach after they beat Parma 2-1 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini to secure a much-needed three points on Sunday evening.

“We came here with belief and tried to play our game,” said the Viola coach in his post-match press conference. “The team played very well, showed great personality and created chances. We could have put the game to bed earlier because we had four or five chances to kill it off in the second half, including a crossbar. We should have got the third goal and put the match to bed.”

Iachini acknowledged that it was vital for his team to get a result in Parma following a disappointing run in recent weeks.
“Of course it’s important and I’m pleased for the players, our fans and for the club,” he said. “In the first three games after the restart we had 44 shots, hit the woodwork four times, had 33 shots from inside the penalty box and we weren’t able to put the games to bed. We played very well both against Brescia and Lazio and against Sassuolo we had chances to take the lead before the penalty. Those matches got away from us – despite creating lots of chances, we weren’t able to make them count. We weren’t getting what we deserved based on the work the lads were doing.”
Franck Ribery and Marco Benassi were both taken off with injuries at the Tardini – and Iachini was keen to stress the importance of all members of the squad as the matches stack up for his team.
“We’ll see,” he said. “We’re playing every three days so all of the players are in my thinking. I expect a lot from them all and I’ve told them that. Whoever is called on must step up and perform well and implement the work I’ve been doing with them since I arrived. We’ll need everyone.”

Commisso on win over Parma

Rocco Commisso has given his reaction to Fiorentina’s 2-1 win over Parma on Sunday evening.

“It was a very hard-fought game – nobody wanted to give in,” said the Fiorentina president. “The lads fought from the first minute to the last against a very respectable opponent. This is a very valuable victory and one we’ve been waiting for for too long – it’s a win that the staff, the coach, the players and all the Viola fans deserve. This match shows how united and together this group is. The only negatives are the injuries to [Marco] Benassi and [Franck] Ribery, but we hope they’re nothing serious. Now let’s switch our attention to the Cagliari game on Wednesday. The away game earlier in the season was one of our worst performances, so I’m hoping to see a completely different attitude this time around.”

Italian Soccer Serie A

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2019-2020 Serie A Week 30 RESULTS / Thirtieth Round on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2020.

👉 Up to Serie A Week 30: There is a two-way race between Juventus (75), Lazio (68)

Juventus winning the Derby della Mole defeating Torino in the Serie A Week 30 game on Saturday 4 July 2020 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.  Juventus claiming the full bragging rights to rule in the City of Turin.   Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon breaking a record playing his 648 game in Serie A.   The added boost is that they are reaffirming their sole leadership in the Serie A reaching 75 points.  Lazio following in the 2nd position with 68 points after losing their game against AC Milan.

Up to Week 30, clearly, the race for the Scudetto has turned from a three-way to a two-way race for the Scudetto.  Nevertheless, with only 8 more games to go, it seems Juventus will grab the Scudetto.  Inter, amazingly, so, lost the home game at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium defeated by Bologna.  This defeat, practically,  puts an end for Inter on their quest to compete for the Scudetto remaining with 64 points.  Inter are now -11 points below Juventus, practically, it means “Goodbye Scudetto.”

⚽️ Serie A Top Scorer up to Week 30:
Lazio forward Ciro Immobile with 29 goals

Serie A tickets

AC Milan gaining momentum with a superb performance at the Olimpico defeating Lazio.  AC Milan increasing their speed to grab a position in the top 6 to be in European competition.

Sassuolo giving a show to delight the fans claiming this home victory reaching 40 points.  Lecce falling and remain in the relegation zone with 25 points losing their 17th game this season.

Sampdoria humiliating SPAL with a 3-0. It is a sour lost for SPAL because they stepped down from the 19th to the 20th position.  The hope for salvation to remain in the Serie A seems a mirage.

Good news is for Brescia defeating Hellas Verona.  Brescia claiming the full 3 points helping them to leave the 20th position climbing to the 19th position.  Brescia winning their 5th game this season.

Parma suffering a home defeat at the Ennio Tardini Stadium.  Fiorentina claiming the away victory reaching 34 points winning their 8th game.  Parma losing their 13th game remaining with 39 points.

Napoli defeating AS Roma at the San Paolo reaching 48 points.  Napoli are in the 6th position while AS Roma remain in the 5th position with 48 points.  Pressure will be for Napoli and AS Roma to keep winning because AC Milan are following closely with 46 points.
