Napoli conquered San Siro Stadium defeating AC Milan.  Big flop for Milan with 14 points dropping from the 3rd position to the 5th position.  Napoli kept the 1st position reaching 17 points same points as Atalanta. In the second half, it was Matteo Politano who broke the deadlock, with a penalty for a foul by Dest on Kvaratskhelia. Olivier Giroud equalized, but it is Giovanni Simeone who ends the game with a headed goal. Kalulu’s cross in the final minutes.  In the next round, Napoli will host Torino, while Milan will go to Empoli.

Major victory for Atalanta against AS Roma to keep up the battle for the leadership at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.    Atalanta reached 17 points while Roma remain with 13 points.    Gasperini proposes a light attack due to the unavailability of Zapata keeping Muriel out. Pellegrini relegated to the median in place of Matic. Roma Coach José Mourinho got a red card in the 57th minute for excessive protesting. Numerous occasions for the Giallorossi: two for Tammy Abraham, Ibanez and Shomurodov. Yet, the ball did not find its way to the goal.  In the next round, Roma will play the away match against Inter, Atalanta will play at home against Fiorentina.

Another flop is Inter defeated by Udinese after having the lead in the 5th minute thanks to Nicolò Barella’s perfect free-kick. Udinese equalized in the 22nd minute with Pereyra’s free-kick deflected into his goal by Skriniar. In the second half, Inter started better and in the 55th minute Edin Dzeko saw a goal canceled for an offside position. Sottil’s team returned to the charge and in the 73rd minute hit the post with Deulofeu, an assist man on the occasion of the goal that gave the Bianconeri the lead in the 84th minute. Corner of the Spaniard, Bijol anticipates everyone and beats Handanovic. At 93 ‘another assist from Deulofeu and another header, this time from Arslan, to definitively close the game at 3-1. It’s the fifth consecutive victory for Udinese. Third defeat in the last four league games for Inter, going down to the 7th position with 12 points.

Lecce defeated Salernitana at the Arechi Stadium. Salernitana returning from the controversial draw  against Juventus failed to claim this home victory after five useful results.  The party is all for Lecce with an important away victory and their first win this season. Salernitana getting now four losts (Inter, Sassuolo and Turin). Ceesay opens, then Gonzalez’s own goal and the winning goal signed by Strefezza.

What a slap for Juventus defeated by Monza, who were in the last position!!   Monza reached 4 points and winning their first game this season and you bet this is a prestigious victory.  Juventus with their first defeat in the league after the two Champions League.  The fact is that Massimiliano Allegri is in very serious difficulty and great confusion.  Making matters worst, betrayed by Angel Di Maria who, with a gesture as naive as he is violent, gets expelled in the first half, laying the foundations for Monza’s feat. Palladino smiles, who guesses the entry of match-winner Gytkjaer and gets his debut in Serie A with a top victory.

Tough debut for new Bologna Coach Thiago Motta losing against Empoli at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium. A goal by Filippo Bandinelli in the second half of the match was enough to give Empoli their first win this season. Bandinelli’s goal is worth 3 precious points reaching 7 points while Bologna remain with 6 points. Bologna battled and might complain given the two poles hit by Marko Arnautović and Zirkzee deny the draw and Bologna stops their run after three consecutive useful results. Surely, the party is all for Empoli grabbing this important away victory.

The Ligurian Derby is all for Spezia overturning the result after defeating Sampdoria at the Alberto Picco Stadium. Gotti’s men play better, with more quality, and deserve the win obtaining their second win this season. Spezia reached 8 points in the standings, Sampdoria that has not yet captured a victory this season remain in the relegation zone with just 2 points.  In the next round, Spezia will visit Lazio, while Sampdoria will see it at home against Monza.

Torino defeated in extremist by Sassuolo at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium.  What a slap!  Torino conceded this late goal just minutes before ending the game. The party is for Sassuolo claiming the 3 points reaching 9 points. A perfect move with Sassuolo Coach Dionisi with the wild card from the bench: Alvarez enters and a few seconds before the end, in full recovery, signs the goal to return to win after four rounds. Torino dominated possession chew bitter for the lack of incisiveness in attack and the lack of attention after the game is over.  In the next round, Torino will visit Napoli while Dionisi’s boys will host Salernitana.

Italy Head Coach Roberto Mancini called up 29 players for the final matches in the UEFA Nations League 2022.   Italy will face England at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan on 23 September at 20.45 CEST and Hungary at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on 26 September at 20.45 CEST.   Italy’s objective is to end in first place in Group 3 of the A League, allowing access to the Final Four, which was achieved in the last edition of the tournament.  Italy up to Matchday 5 are in the 3rd position with 5 points while Hungary are in the 1st position with 7 points and Germany in the 2nd with 6 points while England are in the last position with just 2 points.

🇮🇹 👉 UEFA Nations League Standings / League A – Group 3

As reported by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Coach Roberto Mancini – who against England will join Valcareggi and Vicini in terms of number of games managed for the Azzurri (54, Lippi and Prandelli are at 56) – has called up 29 players, who will meet on Sunday 18 September at the Coverciano Federal Technical Centre. There are first call-ups to the national team for Lazio and Empoli goalkeepers Ivan Provedel and Guglielmo Vicario, the latter already called up last May, reserved to national interest players, and for Salernitana defender Pasquale Mazzocchi. Vincenzo Grifo, who was last called up for the friendly against San Marino in May 2021, will also be back in the Azzurri shirt.

The group will leave on Thursday 22 September for Milan, where they will stay the day after the match against England, before moving to Budapest on Sunday 25 and finally returning to Italy in the night after the match against Hungary.

Regarding the collision of the National Team with the 2022 Political Elections, scheduled for Sunday 25 September, the logistics will be evaluated in the coming days to allow the staff to vote, while guaranteeing their attendance at the match on 26 September against Hungary.

In fact, the current regulations do not allow those who are temporarily in another location to vote outside their place of residence, with the exception of cases that are strictly provided for limited categories of personnel. The team programme, therefore, may be subject to change between Saturday 24 and Sunday 25, which will be clarified shortly.

✅  ITALY vs. ENGLAND. There are 29 previous matches between Italy and England, with the balance tipped in favour of the Azzurri: 10 Italian wins, 8 English wins and 11 draws, the last of which was the 0-0 in the first Nations League match. The national team will play for the 60th time in Milan (only Rome has hosted more matches for the Azzurri, 62), where they have collected 37 wins, 19 draws and 3 defeats. The last one was against Spain in October 2021, the first defeat for the national team in San Siro, which ended an incredible unbeaten run in the city of 93 years (the other two defeats in Milan date back to 1911 and 1925 in matches played at the Arena Civica and Velodromo Sempione). Only once has Italy vs. England been played in Milan, 83 years ago: it was on 13 May 1939, ending 2-2. For Italy, the victory drought at the Meazza has lasted 10 years: the last one on October 16, 2012, 3-1 against Denmark, with five draws (with Germany twice, Croatia, Sweden and Portugal) and one defeat since.

✅  HUNGARY vs. ITALY. It will be the 16th away match in Hungary for Italy and the 36th confrontation with the Magyars: the head-to-head sees 17 Italian victories (the last one in Cesena in the first match), 9 draws and 9 Hungarian wins. Taking only the matches in Budapest, there is perfect parity: 5 wins for each side and 5 draws. In 1924, in the Hungarian capital, Italy suffered the worst defeat in its history: 7-1. With Marco Rossi on the Hungarian bench, this will be the 17th game with a national team led by an Italian coach after Varrella and Leoni (San Marino), De Biasi (2) and Panucci (Albania), Zaccheroni (Japan), Ghedin (Malta, 4 times), Foni (Switzerland), and Trapattoni (Ireland, 4 times).
