Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Parma, 15th position with 20 points and a negative goal difference of -10
AC Milan, 8th position with 31 points and a positive goal difference of +8

👉  AC Milanwon the Serie A Week 22 match against Parma on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the iconic San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Milan staged a thrilling comeback scoring two goals in injury time to secure a 3-2 victory.  Christian Pulisic converted a penalty, while Reijnders and Chukwueze added to the tally.  Parma had initially taken the lead twice with goals from Cancellieri and Delprato. Just think about it! In a historic moment for Serie A, Milan achieved an amazing comeback, scoring two goals after the 90th minute to clinch their first-ever win from behind!

With this win, Milan climbs to 6th place, now tied with Bologna at 34 points, just 3 points behind Juventus. Lazio, currently in 4th, is 5 points ahead but still has a match to play. The Rossoneri remain in contention for a Champions League spot. On the other hand, Parma, who aimed for victory, now finds themselves just one point above the relegation zone.

Milan’s three crucial points came from a fierce display of determination in the final moments. However, this victory shouldn’t overshadow the ongoing challenges for Conceiçao’s squad, including a lack of goals from their forwards and the ease with which opponents penetrate their defense. Additionally, the situation with Leao and Theo Hernandez, who was substituted at halftime, raises concerns. As for Parma, they performed admirably until the 90th minute but faltered dramatically in injury time.

Looking ahead, Milan will take on Inter in the highly anticipated Milan derby on February 2nd at 18, while Parma will face Lecce in a crucial relegation battle on January 31st at 20:45.

Milan heads into this match following a 1-0 victory at home against Girona, which has lifted Conceiçao’s squad into the Champions League’s top 8, putting them in a strong position to qualify directly for the round of 16.

Next week, on Wednesday the 29th, they will take on Dinamo Zagreb in an away match.

The action starts…

Parma took the lead in the 24th minute when Matteo Cancellieri found the back of the net with a left-footed shot aimed at the bottom left corner. Emanuele Valeri provided the assist. As Theo Hernandez slid to the ground, Cancellieri skillfully controlled the ball, shifted to the left, and curled a shot that left Milan’s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, unable to respond.

AC Milan leveled the score at 1-1 in the 38th minute when Christian Pulisic successfully converted a penalty with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom left corner. The penalty was awarded after a foul by Zion Suzuki. Pulisic, known for his precision, sent the ball to the right of Suzuki, who anticipated the shot but couldn’t quite get there. This goal brought Milan back into the match after Cancellieri had given the opposing team an early lead.

Parma surged ahead again in the 80th minute, with Enrico Delprato finding the back of the net with a simple tap-in. He couldn’t miss, especially after Maignan’s stunning save from Camara’s attempt left the goal wide open.

A late goal in the 92nd minute to equalize for the 2-2.

What an incredible turnaround! AC Milan clinched the winning goal in the nail-biting 95th minute. Samuel Chukwueze found the net from just a few feet away with a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner, thanks to an assist from Strahinja Pavlovic. The Rossoneri made a stunning comeback in the dying moments, with Chukwueze’s knee catching Suzuki off guard after Pavlovic’s header. Two goals in stoppage time made it a thrilling finish, and the former Villarreal player was right where he needed to be.

Say what???

Stats before the game

Milan has gathered fewer than 35 points in their first 20 Serie A matches this season, totaling 31 points. It marks the first time since the 2019/20 season when they finished with 28 points and ended up in sixth place.

The last occasion the Rossoneri secured a top-four finish after reaching a maximum of 31 points at this stage was back in the 2012/13 season, when they claimed third place. Following their loss to Juventus, Milan risks losing two consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since January-February 2023, when they suffered three defeats in a row against Lazio, Sassuolo, and Inter.  Additionally, Milan has drawn four of their last five home games in Serie A, with one win, including their last three matches.

Buy Serie A tickets

In the history of three points for a win, the Rossoneri have only managed four straight home draws once, between October 1994 and January 1995, which included a match against Parma.

In Serie A, only Roma (34) have more victories over Parma than Milan (29), with the teams having drawn 14 times and Parma winning 12 matches in their 55 encounters. Following their 2-1 victory on August 24, the Ducali have a chance to secure back-to-back league wins against the Diavolo for the first time since the 2013/14 season, when they won 3-2 in the first match and 4-2 in the second under Roberto Donadoni’s management.

Milan, on the other hand, have only lost once in their last 20 home games against Parma in Serie A, achieving 15 wins and four draws. Among teams they have faced at least 20 times at home since the introduction of the three points for a win system, the Rossoneri have a higher home win percentage only against Cagliari (79%) compared to Parma (70% – 16 out of 23).
