AC Milan new Coach Gennaro Gattuso presented on Tuesday 28 November 2017.     The first press conference taking place at the Centro Sportivo Milanello along with Sporting Director Massimiliano Mirabelli and CEO Marco Fassone, who introduced the new coach: “Gennaro Gattuso is not a stopgap. Appointing him as new coach was the best decision to take. He knows this Club better than anyone else and since his return, he has done really well. It’s a new chapter of our campaign which can now lead us to look at the future with optimism. We are confident he’ll do well and that he will be able to make the most of this opportunity. We’ll draw the line at the end of the season”.

Fassone commenting on how the club believes in the choice of appointing Massimiliano Mirabelli as Sporting Director: “He was my first choice and I fully believe in him. He has great technical responsibilities”.

Sporting Director Massimiliano Mirabelli commented: “Montella to us was and still is a very good coach. Results haven’t been that positive, unfortunately, that’s why we decided to make a change. Let’s hope to put this start to the season behind and start a new chapter”.

Here are the declarations of new AC Milan Coach Gennaro Gattuso during the press conference courtesy acmilan.com:

ON HIS FIRST DAY
“It’s an important day and I feel lots of responsibility. I am fully convinced I have a great squad, with lots of internationals and young players. This is a difficult time for us, but I am positive there’s everything we need to do well.

ON THE TEAM
“I think we’ll play in a 3-man defence. Montella? I have a great relationship with him, although we have different styles of play. He prefers to keep possession and move the ball around as I prefer to paly more vertical.

THE TABLE
“I want to think match after match. We have to focus on the next game at Benevento, and we have to think of this meeting as if it were a Champions League final. My priority is to work on the psychological aspect of this team.

GOAL DROUGHT
“My teams have always conceded few goals although we haven’t scored much. We have already started working on the team’s goal drought. We had many scoring opportunities against Torino.

PRIMAVERA
“The boys of the Primavera are really great people, it was an important team. It was really sad to leave the boys, I have never had a single problem with them. I would really have liked to finish my work there. I want to thank them because I’ve learnt a lot from them”.

It’s official.  AC Milan sacking Coach Vincenzo Montella on Monday 27 November 2017 and replacing him with legendary player Gennaro Gattuso.

It was about time to make the change as AC Milan ended with a home goalless draw on Sunday 26 November AC Milan 0 – 0 Torino at the San Paolo Stadium.   Up to Serie A Week 14, AC Milan is in the 7th position with 20 points winning 6 games, 2 draws and losing 6 games.    Imagine the gap with Napoli in the first position with 38 points!   AC Milan must revive and gain their historical grandiosity which right now is only a shadow.    Let’s hope Gattuso, who was coaching Milan Youth team, can make a difference.

It was already a tough situation for Montella because the team could not even score….  The match against Torino was their fourth consecutive home game without scoring a goal.

A flop for AC Milan unable to win the home game against Torino at the San Siro Stadium.  AC Milan seeing their chances to climb to the top 5 positions disappearing after this goalless draw getting only 1 point.   It seems the victory in Europa League against FK Austria with a 5-1 was not enough inspiration to win today.

A superb match for Torino goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu denying Milan to claim a victory.   Something must be done to revive this Milan in Serie A looking just a somber of their great trajectory.

It is a golden point for Torino with the ex-AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlović.  Torino also failing to win the away game and just as last week claiming a draw.  AC Milan having 53% ball possession compared to Torino with 47% ball possession.

Here is AC MILAN official starting lineup – formation by Coach Vincenzo Montella:

AC MILAN (3-4-1-2): Donnarumma; Zapata, Bonucci, Romagnoli; Bonaventura, Kessié, Montolivo, Rodríguez; Suso; Andé Silva, Kalinić.

Here is TORINO official starting lineup – formation by Coach Sinisa Mihajlović:

TORINO (4-3-3): Sirigu; De Silvestri, Nkoulou, Burdisso, Ansaldi; Obi, Rincón, Baselli; Niang, Belotti, Ljajić.
