MILAN – The Giovanissimi Nazionali (U15) are all set to take on Fiorentina in the last-32 of the Scudetto finals. The first-leg kicks-off at 11.00 tomorrow and the Rossoneri have home advantage. The return leg meanwhile is scheduled for May 15 in Florence. Speaking earlier this week and in the build-up to the game, coach Omar Danesi called it a fascinating contest and a big test for his players.
MILAN – It all happened on this date, May 7, in the club’s history:
– 2000: a 1-1 draw away to Roma in the penultimate round of the league season edged Milan ever closer to a third place finish and qualification to the Champions League preliminary stages.
– 2003: the Rossoneri played out a goalless draw with Inter in the first-leg of the Champions League semi-finals and took a step towards the final in Manchester.
– 2011: Milan clinched league title number 18 thanks to a 0-0 draw at the Olimpico versus Roma.
MILAN – Club president Silvio Berlusconi has posted a video-message on his facebook page. This is what the Milan number 1 had to say:
“Like all of you, I have Milan in my heart and I suffer when things go badly. Perhaps I suffer a little bit more, seeing as I have invested over €1 billion euros to make the club great. Just last year, it was €152m. And yet you’ll agree with me that we’ve never seen Milan play as badly as this year. I found the courage to change in order to reach the final of the TIM Cup against Juventus with a little more hope. In fact, it appears to me that we have seen some improvements in the quality of football. We had Cristian Brocchi available, an excellent coach from our U19 team. I asked him to show bravery and he said yes. He is a professional person who knows the Milan style well, right from when he played for our youngest of the youth sector teams. He hasn’t had much time to work with the players and try new formations. We were also unlucky in recent games, such as in Verona, where we lost to a penalty and a free kick that should never have even been awarded. So, let’s allow Brocchi to work in peace until May 21, then we’ll decide what to do. Let me add: after 30 years of celebrating with champagne and caviar, we could show a little more elegance when dealing with a dry spell that is only temporary. Finally, to those who tell me I must sell, I say this: I’ve been trying for a year, but I would like to leave Milan in good hands and to who can guarantee a future as a leading team. Preferably in Italian hands.”
MILAN – The players have woken up to clear skies in Bologna ahead of tonight’s Serie A match at 20.45 with the Rossoblu at the Dall’Ara. The weather is expected to remain unchanged come kick-off while temperatures are forecast for around 17 degrees.
