Here are the official starting lineups for the Mexico vs Ecuador match in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking place on Tuesday, June 30, at 6:00 PM PST (9:00 PM EST) at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Mexico topped Group A with a record of 3-0, not allowing any goals, while Ecuador advanced from Group E.

This match will feature three players from Serie A. Mexico has called up AC Milan forward Santiago Giménez and  Genoa defender Johan Vásquez.  Ecuador has included AC Milan defender Pervis Estupiñán. It will be exciting to see these two Milan players face off against each other.

How did they reach the Round of 32?

Co-hosts Mexico became the sixth nation in World Cup history to qualify for the knockout stage by winning all three of their group matches without conceding a goal. In Match 1, they defeated South Africa 2-0 at the iconic Estadio Azteca. In Match 2, they secured a narrow 1-0 victory over South Korea. In Match 3, they comfortably beat Czechia 3-0 to finish at the top of Group A.

Ecuador’s path to the knockout stage in Mexico was much tougher, marked by resilience and a significant upset on Matchday 3. In Match 1, they faced a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat against Ivory Coast after conceding a goal in the 90th minute. In Match 2, they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Curacao. In Match 3, they found themselves down 1-0 to Germany just 2 minutes in but made an incredible comeback to win 2-1, clinching their spot in the tournament with a goal from Gonzalo Plata in the 77th minute.
